70% CTD using batch files for bldconf...
#1

Hi gents
For today's episode, i have a new issue, that somehow seemingly happened overnight while i was sleeping.
I'm using 2 batch files to switch my version between map-making version, and regular version, for a couple of months now, with no hassles. They work by changing the bldconf file as necessary. Got 'em here, can't remember from who?
Anyways, wanted to make some adjustments to map_c of the Aleutians map, so switched to mapmode, and promptly got a 70% CTD...
Using the regular mode, the game loads fine...
I think something's probably gone wonky with the batch file - I'm posting first the bldconf for the map mode, which gives me the 70% CTD:
[builder_plugins]
(builder.PlMapLoad)
(builder.PlMapActors,sectFile=com/maddox/il2/objects/static.ini)
(builder.PlMapAirdrome)
(builder.PlMapLabel)

[builder config]

bShowName true

bShowTime true
bShowArmy [3,true,true,true]
iLightLand 255
iconSize 16
bViewBridge false
bAnimateCamera true
bActorOnLand true
bSaveViewHLand false
bShowLandscape true
iLightDestruction 255
iWaterLevel 191

and the normal one, which works fine:

[builder_plugins]
(builder.PlMapLoad)
(builder.PlMission)
(builder.PlMisAir,sectFile=com/maddox/il2/objects/air.ini)
(builder.PlMisChief,sectFile=com/maddox/il2/objects/chief.ini)

(builder.PlMisTarget)
(builder.PlMisBrief)
(builder.PlMisBorn)
(builder.PlMisStaticCamera)
(builder.PlMisDestruction)
(builder.PlMisFront)
[builder config]

iconSize 16
bViewBridge false
bAnimateCamera true
bActorOnLand true
bSaveViewHLand false
bShowLandscape true
iLightDestruction 255
iWaterLevel 191

...are there any issues here, or am i barking up the wrong tree? :?:
Thanks in advance 8)

I had problems with this some time ago.
For ever I tried and tried to see the full map making fmb
Fabian Fred came to the rescue with his Build.ini for full fmb.
After that it was the first time see a map in this set up.

I ost Fabian Fred's build.ini as I am no longer with g mail and stupid me did not back up the files when I went and got the computer upgraded.

When I was learning how to make maps from Kevin P's tutorial I noticed Mr. Oblongo build.ini set up worked perfectly.

I am using Mr. Oblongo's build.ini for map making and it does work perfectly.

If you need help the same as I dids I'd be happy to pass this on to you.

I'd appreciate it, Kirby Big Grin
All you need to do is copy/paste that bldconf in the thread, I'll take it from there! Big Grin Big Grin

Got it, many thanks, Easy. Big Grin Big Grin

EDIT: well, that's the weirdest thing... :?:
i'm still getting the 70% CTD using that bldconf of yours...using the standard bldconf works fine - i can use FMB fully, etc.
....but, all of a sudden, using the mapmaking one is giving me a 70% CTD?
....well, guess i'm back at square one on this.... :?:
Like i might have mentioned, i was using map mode just yesterday last without problems. The only new mod i installed was the Aleutians map, and that seems to be working fine? (Great map, btw, agracier! Big Grin )
So, anybody have any idea where i should look to next? must admit, i'm stumped at this point... :?:

I have the inverse problem. I get 70% CTD when I try to switch out of mapmaking mode to missionmaking mode. I can "sorta" operate mission-making mode, but only by deleting all references to "chief" objects from the mission bldconf.ini. So that means I can no longer write missions with ships or vehicles!!!

Initially, I thought the ship-pack or some other big mod had corrupted my vehicles, armour or ships .ini files. But in fact, these load fine in pre-written stock missions. So it seems an FMB problem.

Any suggestions appreciated. Right now, I'm contemplating a full deinstall/ reinstall in the near future.

The only trigger I can think of is that I may have overloaded my mission FMB by trying to write stuff for the Lower Burma map a couple of days before the problem surfaced. The FMB kept CTD-ing due to memory overload. (Yes, I DO need more memory.)

I still believe it is how you also have the conf.ini set up as well to make it work properly.
I did a search on AAA and got the build.ini for maps that is no problem. Then I tried a conf.ini for maps and got black water or a blue map with just objects showing

So here is my Map Making Builders ini and Configuration ini

Try taking the aleutians map out and textures out if there were some included with the map, and see what happens as that is all you have added since you were last in Map Editor FMB and it was working.

Try using a back up of your config to see if it has somehow become corrupt. If you want to try my config just PM me and I will send you a link to a copy of my config

farang65 has made a good point there with the config,I also have experienced my config change my water black ete

Okay, thanks for the tips, Kirby, Easy - I'll try those options later today. Must go and earn some pennies today.
I must say, after suffering from corrupt files that cost ma a whole HD recently, that was the first fear I had. I've checked/compared my present bldconf/conf, with a backup copy and they SEEM fine....
I'll post back with my findings.... 8)
