F-51 mustang MOD compatible with AAA MODS???
#1

i just downloaded a the sweet F-51 mustang from the check 6 forum http://www.checksix-forums.com/showthread.php?t=153395 After installing it as per the instructions (they are written in French which I don't speak, but it was pretty self explanatory  ) I tried to start the game with the plane completely installed (F-51 folder in MOD folder and all the appropriate lines on the .ini and _ru files. I got a CTD after I think 60%... After that I backed up my ORIGINAL buttons file and replaced it with the one that was included with the F-51 MOD which caused it to crash again at 60%. After all that I uninstalled it... Cry Is there any way to install the F-51 (which I suppose is NOT a AAA supported MOD) to work with the AAA UI? I would ask at the check 6 website but I don't speak a lick of french...Thanks!

From what I'm seeing, it doesn't have a fixed FM. The only difference that I see is that it has 50gal napalm tanks. If I were you, I would wait for Monguse's Mustang Collection. I think it will have a F-51D-30NA with all the beautiful 3D changes, FM fixes, new and improved ordinance, opening canopy, the works.

I don't see a way to do it.I saw it was being talked about on a different thread and it was stated by someone to wait for the new aircraft installer, but I doubt it would be included as it is not a official AAA mod.

Somehow it must be compatible with the game...There are screens posted on another thread...Thanks for the quick responses (although it seems I will just have to wait for a compatible mustang with opening canopy and other cool features) However, has ANYONE else that is using AAA mods gotten this to work? Just wondering...

pretty sure that magpie posted that this will be available with the next aircraft_installer 3.9
(BUTTONS FILE) will just have to wait 'till then.

From my understanding, you have to have some FM smarts to get it with unified installer 1.1, also buttons an so on.
Those that have the knowledge won't reveal it, just the code of the West I guess, lol.
An as I'm the village idiot when it comes to the coding of this sim, I'll just have wait with all the rest of you.

If it's not included in the AC Installer(now at 3.8 ) it won't work here is my understanding. Oops, just saw Cpt. Biggles post

Personally, I think Oleg grossly under represented this aircrafts FM in the models included.

As Cpt_Biggles said, this F51D will be included in the AC Installer 3.9. Look at Magpie reply in this topic:

I tend to agree on that note, in particular the American, British, and Japanese aircraft tend to poor FMs in comparison to R/L. But keep in mind that IL-2 was made as an Eastern Front cfs first and every thing eles was added later on.

The FM on the F-51 is much superior to the P51 FM's we have, they work with prop pitch, fly at the wrong pitch and the plane won't work as well so you need correct rpm settings for different fly etc... The Centre of Gravity (COG) also changes so if you fly with full fuel I seriously wouldn't suggest making many maneuvers unless they are small ones.... or you'll spin to the deck.

The buttons file included with the F-51 probably won't have stuff in there that you do. So any new or wip aircraft should be removed for example: Swordfish (you have to fiddle around and find out which aircraft the buttons file doesn't have.)

I really don't want to split hairs here....This is really interesting to me! I did install the swordfish and it works very well. I don't believe that was a AAA mod either right? (BTW: I understand that the new mustang won't work, I am just trying to learn some new things...) Thanks guys! Again, no offense, just curious....

The swordfish wasn't made by the "AAA Team" but released on AAA forums hence it is compatible. Things that aren't released on here aren't compatible unless otherwise stated.
