Hi,
I can install airplane models but I have can't install rar files for effects and other things. Anybody give me some tips?

rar files? which is the problem? If it's to unzip rar files, there are several free programs
you can download from the web, such as 7zip, Tugzip, Rarzilla, WinRar, and so on

Well when I download them and try to drag and drop them in to the mods folder the game crashes at 60%. Do you have to extract them from the .rar format that there in?

Yes you must unzip them with one of the program I listed. After installed the program (7zip is the most used, but you can install all if you want) you click right on the .rar file you want unpack and in the context menu go on 7zip> Extract Here
and you get folders and files you need
