Future feature: Mods Install releases in bin files
#1

All that mess about corrupted files, which have to be found between tons of mod files. Difficult for many of users! A lot of confusion.

Would it be possible to write a new wrapper that is loading files not from Files and Mods directories as separate files but rars or zips or even SFS Smile files? Preferably packed one. One file - one mod. Possible? Reasonable?

/ Or - distribute mods in that way as an additional option if the current approach is preferred by some. /

Personally, I would NOT like the SFS option unless there is a program to enable and disable mods of your choice. Right now all you have to do is place a dash infront of the mod you want to disable. Also you would not be able to add other mods of your choice later. One last thing; not everyone is a programmer or can operate and understand the SFS extractor program (yours truly) and would likely muck up the whole works.

While I go nuts waiting for my program to start and load, I'd rather do that than have my game totally screwed because I can't understand what I'm looking at in an SFS extractor. I'd go with the rar/zip option first.

Actually, it's my understanding that sfs files would load quicker so there wouldn't be a long pause between hitting the exe and game start up.

Some did it and made it apparentlly 4.09m compatible; it's called HSFX v4 - mod pack

Check http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/t ... 143/1.html (vp_media's post)

But UI 1.2 is still more up-to-date. Who really likes to switch between 4 copies of the game
when he wants to play on-line? I just hope for a 4.10 version soon (UI 1.2 + 4.09m), but it's maybe too late...
