that was a bit of an overstatement, wasn't it.

I guess my point is more to the fact that it was heavier and better armored than its contemporaries. It did have steel parts, where other planes used aluminum, and extra steel armor where many contemporaries relied soly on the pilot's back plate.

In game, me repeatedly living through showers of machine gun fire in a 109, vs repeatedly and more frequently dying from a one shot kill flying a P-40, is a contrast to the point i'm trying to make.

It probably has less to do with the modeling of the planes, and more to do with the lack of realism when modeling pilot kills.

It would be interesting to see what realistic pilot vulnerability does for the pilot while flying a 109 or spitfire, or any other light plane.
