The very thing I tried, and it worked. Go to your mission file that you have saved, open it with note pad, scroll down till you find the flight you want to modify, it will have a number 4 representing how many is in the flight, change the 4 to 8 or somthing to that nature and save it, then start the mission and there are now more planes in the flight. I am still wondering if there is some kinda mod you can do to the program to change the 4 to another number with out going thru the mission file.

Have you used UBERDEMON's program (UQMG)? This is a Quick Mission Generator and already a tradition, with it you can add as many aircrafts to a mission up to your PC limit; I am sorry I do not know how to post a link, but the address for downloading is:
