Watched a video today of a simple commuter flight with heavy overcast and realized how easy in real life folks have it now a days with GPS......It also struck me how in the sim we all love our altitude and rightfully so. Yet with the aspects of the map showing the route and our aircraft position, it often takes weather out of the equation in that you always know where you are like GPS.

To that end I'd like to request a mod where the Minmap path is left intact, yet the aircraft icon is gone. That asked for in the hopes that though we have a route, you'll be forced to either do speed, direction and time calculations to estimate your position, or be forced to drop under the weather to find your way via landmarks. Naturally an addition of compass direction or other info on the map just a plus.

Should make missions much more fun.

Good idea for the map ingame.. but for now can't you just print out a map and mark your route and targets/waypoints etc directly onto the map?

Sure, now get 32 random folks on the spur of a moment in a coop choosing various missions on the fly to do it...Won't happen.
