Old effects co-exist with new?
#1

Coming straight to the point, I seem to have both old and new 3d smoke effects when i enable 'effects high'. What could cause this?

Since it seems that not many have something to say so I'll do it :-?
EFFECTS_High have included portion of 2D smokes and it is stripped and partially reconfigured
Platinum/Uranium effects mod .
Don't ask me why , they probably did it for on-line play even thou one extra stream of plane
damage 3D smoke would not cause FPS kill , with such a small 17kb texture it would not cause FPS
drop and is not gonna happen with latest Uranium effects mod .

We found to be more interesting when selecting to run HSFX 4.1 their fuel leak smoke effect design
either with selected EFFECTS_High or just plain HSFX .
If you hit bomber and causing 4 fuel leak streams which is nothing unusual , result is pretty
bad as fuel leak is looking..............................screenshots included , you be the judge .
It's not meant to be criticizing comment , it's rather surprising how that happened with HSFX History ?
If you hit fighter plane you get the impression that it is damage smoking rather than fuel leaking .

This kind of HSFX fuel leak smoke configuration is more FPS stressful than anything else when it comes to
planes 3D damage smokes .
Since UP 2.0 is based on HSFX it have the same effect with EFFECTS_High selected .

In UP 2.0 , it is good idea to select through JSGME mod selector EFFECTS_High and then overwritting it with
JSGME included Uranium Effetcs to get maximum out of effects as that way Josses's full clouds will be also working
at the same time ( for those who have at least somewhat good machine to run all the effects eye candy )

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to modify the JSGME folder so that effects high is the Uranium effects collection?

If you're running on UP 2.0 install , then the option for using Uranium effects mod is there in JSGME already
pre-configured with correct additional " files " folder so JSGME can recognize and read mod but still thou it's
still mod which is not compressed in to SFS .
If you're running HSFX 4.1 , then you will have to drop Uranium mod in to newly created game main MODS folder
and loading mod from there unless you give correct new " files " subfolder to Uranium mod in order to be able
to work with JSGME mod selector .
EFFECTS_High option can't be now again reconfigured back in to original Uranium effects as not only many
things were changed and scaled down in EFFECTS_High to please SEOW 242sqn. on-line play but they did
compressed their EFFECTS_High option in to original SFS structure because they can .
