[Map] Santa Cruz Islands and Rennell Islands V1.1
#1

Hi,

Maps tested in HSFX 4.1!
I made two versions of each map, a historical and a fictional version!
In the latter version, I added some additional airfields into the maps!
Many thanks to Kevinp for his "Map building tutorial" and Bombsaway, who has created the beautiful shallow water and volcano textures!

Hi mate!!

Your maps are really beautiful and are very wellcommed in the game (we'll never have enough maps!!!!)

The Solomons area is fillfulled of a lot of action and can be done also a lot of 'what if' action!!!

What I'm suggesting to you is give a little more space for water to keep a more freedom for action and units placement!!

Adding only water can be done by everyone by editing the map file but if done by the author is a better standard solution!!!

Below I give you some suggestion about space in relation with the route plan of the Santa Cruz (aka Eastern Solomons) Battle and the Rennel Island engaements:

I hope to don't bother with my suggestion!!!!

Again congratulation for you nice work mate!!!!

Hi,
First, thanks for your feedback!

The two pictures above show only a portion of the maps! The Santa Cruz map e.g. is much bigger, I just wanted to show the locations of the airfields!

Edit

This DEM file of the Rennell map shows the locations of the islands to each other! Below Rennell Island and top San Cristobal! If you compare it with my map you will notice that I have made good use of the sea area!
In some earlier posts I've read that some people prefer to fly longer distances and others prefer shorter! I think both maps are a good compromise!

Greetings!

Dear Lonestar!

I really apologize for my post because , I have write it before install your maps!!!

The dimensional choice is really good and allow a lot of chance for mission building in a lot of scenarios!!!

I have tested them and the texture are pretty and well done , the airfields let at the player a lot of templatization if liked!!!

Very good work!!!

My greatest congratulation mate!!!

cheers

Hi Lonestar. Thank you for the credit. I really enjoy making textures for maps. With the release of the new version of the Santa Cruz map I'm now officially amphibious! Big Grin The Lava Flow texture was my very first working land texture. I'm now working with Mission_bug on a rice paddy texture for his South Vietnam map. Its very cool to see my land texture on your map. Thanks for using it. I'm glad you like it. Big Grin
