Douglas DC-2 + DC-3 = US Army 1939
.
The Douglas DC-2 and DC-3 is an American fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft whose speed and range revolutionized air transport in the 1930s and 1940s. Because of its lasting impact on the airline industry and World War II it is generally regarded as one of the most significant transport aircraft ever made. Many DC-3s are still used to this day in all parts of the world.
.
In these skins I have tried to rework some panels and aircraft parts into looking a bit more like the early DC-2 and the later DC-3 military airplanes, although both models still use the C-47 ingame
model, which is great too. It´s great fun to fly it with the new Mod-cockpit and paintjob!
So, until a new mod airplane is made to really look like the DC-3, there is not much I can change to these skins. The big diferences between the DC-2 airplane to the other airplane is that the DC-2 had landing lights on its nose and not on the wings. It also had shorter and rounder wing-tips, a diferent tail and rudder, and no glass bubble canopy on the rooftop.
But for the time being these skins will show these details to be alike for both airplanes, until a new Mod-airplane arrives.
.
Hynkel´s airplane template does not come with rivet effects.
I have done some rivets and panels, but only added a few. On the other skins I had tested I found that using too many rivets and too many 3-D effects on the rivets spoiled the polished chrome paint underneath.
So , for the meantime they will have some rivets, but not that many. Sorry, to all you rivets fans out there. By the way... Zoom-in into the airplane skin to see just how many rivets there are. I think, plenty is the correct word to use.
Skins were done based on photographs from pre-WW2 years, found in the internet and in books.
Anyway, enough talk... GO Enjoy a great flight in a DC-3, or DC-2 from 1939 !

Skins available at Mission4Today... (put in C-47 folder)
