Problem with editing a default object.
#1

Hi all,

I want to remove the bronze statue on top of this column. I thought it was just a matter of working with Alpha Layers, eraser tool etc in GIMP. I've done this in GIMP many times when making the damage models for the objects of my Southern Europe House Pack.
But for some reason I don't manage to get rid of this statue. The only thing that happens it turns from green into black after I've made the green part of the .tga transparent.
Even when I made other parts of this object transparent it turns black. :-?

Or I overlooked something or it is not possible at all.
Any help from an expert here???

Here is the object that's giving me a hard time.

You need to change one of the values in the MAT file.

Open the MAT file called skin1o.mat & change tfBlend 0 to tfBlend 1

This allows textures to be transparent.

Thanks Kevin, but how to open a MAT file? When I right click I only have the option "Open" and not "Open With".
When I open the MAT file I don't see nothing... :-?
And question 2: do I have to edit skin1p and skin1q also?

Double click on the MAT file. In the window that appears choose the option "Select the program from a list" & press OK. In the next window you should see "Notepad" in the list of programs. Choose that & make sure the box is checked which allows the file to always be opened with Notepad.

In the case of this object there is no need to edit the other MAT files

But that's the thing. When I double click or rightclick on the MAT file I don't have these options like I usually have. This file just opens in Microsoft Acces which shows an empty field. Strange.
Is it okay if I upload this skin1o MAT file to you so you can edit the line and send it back to me?

Cheers, L.

Lejo,
If you go into your windows control panel and select "Default programs" and then select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" you'll be able to change the program that opens mat files to notepad.

Hope this helps

Ok, in control panel select "Folder Options", then in the dialogue box that comes up select the "File Types" tab, wait for the list to populate, scroll down and click on MAT and you will see a "Change" button...click it and a dialogue box will appear with a list of programs...select Notepad...if notepad is not in the list select "Browse" and navigate to notepad.exe (in C:\Windows).

Hope this helps
