Wings 3D: Anybody like this for IL-2?
#1

Good day, friends

I recently started using Wings 3D. I am in the process of making the rounds with several 3D building programs. This one looks promising, but I don't know how good it would be for IL-2.

If you have experience with this Wings 3D, then please post details about it regarding IL-2. What are the advantages and limitations?

If it seems worthy, I am considering the creation of a guide and discussion topic for Wings 3D.

You can build a plane with it but there is no IL2 exporter for it.

You can export in .3ds with it , which you can open in gmax, 3DSMax and then export those Meshes to IL-2 so why not?

Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
BZFlag (.bzw)
Kerkythea (.xml)
Autodesk FBX (.fbx)
Lightwave/Modo (.lwo/.lxo)

Well, yeah, I have heard about G-Max. IL-2 modders use it for stuff.

I have been having a blast of fun with this Wings 3D. Within about 3 hours of practice from my first effort, I had made a model of a Gemini space capsule and an F-117 Stealth fighter. This program is capable of creating, it seems, any shape in 2D or 3D, including hollow objects.

Online tutorials show very realistic objects, such as human heads with detailed facial features.

Here are examples of the quality that I want to achieve from Wings 3D...

Very Nice but most of the pictures wouldn't load so I only saw a few.

Take a look at the other threads in the Wings 3D Gallery. One guy had glass and chrome objects that really looked like glass and chrome:

In case you thought that it was real glass, then look at the same 3D model with chrome:
