3 mod problems
#1

I just installed Sound mod and a bunch of other modifications, I like the new sounds and I love the 6 DOF mouse -but-...

- Problem #1
(sound mod)
Gunshots are too loud when not close to my plane. I mean firearms sound much more realistic now but they sound like they're right behind me even if they're fighting far away and no-one is around and ground fire would be at least as far as my altitude is (definitely not right behind me)

- Problem #2
(extra flyable planes)
Those extra flyable planes don't work and neither does the P-47. I start the flight and I see like some water (even if no water is supposed to be around) and some kind of weird sky. No airfield, no plane, no nothing.

- Problem #3 (P-47 name mod)
Pretty much like the problem #2 except that now the picture that appears instead of the cockpit view is upside down. When I switch to external view it looks good but it joystick and keyboard don't work. I tried to use no-cockpit view but it didn't work (the key did nothing at all)
The name-switching program running in a .cmd window cmplained about x64 compatibility and exited.
IL2 runs on a stripped-down version of WinXP Pro x64 edition.

Questions:

-1 - Any reposrts of people having the same problems in win32?

- 2 - How do I make those extra flyable planes work?

- 3- If the extra planes can't be fixed, where can I get a complete list of the installed files so I can manually uninstall?

- 4 - How do I get the P-47 back? (uninstall the name mod)

- 5 - How to fix the annoying problem of the far away shooting sounding like they're close

Thanks.

I 'd say that in the original they were less loud than they should, possibly in the mod are too loud.

I had the same problem with the U-2. I installed the full pack

(The link is inoperative)

and now the U-2 flies normally. I think you have a good chance that everything will be ok if you do so.I don't know what to tell you about the 3rd problem, is really weird.

Yes the guns were definitely too silent in the original version and they sound much better now, the only problem is with guns that shoot from a distance, when I should barely hear them or hear them far away, I hear them like they were right behind me... that's as unrealistic as the original 'silent guns'
But OK, if there's no fix I'd say that the loud-guns version is kind of better, and of course, engine sounds and other sounds are much, much better, so great mod anyway.

I'm gonna give a shot to the linked package and see what happens.
Anyone had the same problem I have with the P-47?

OK now I can fly the modded AI planes and that's some fun!

the too-noisy guns problem was kinda-solved by setting attenuation=4 in conf.ini rather than the =7 I had before. I still hear guns firing from far away as they were much closer but at least they don't sound like they're right behind my back, and the new guns sound is way better than the original one: this actually sounds like guns, the original sounded like firecrackers.

I looked into the P-47D name mod, saw what it did, and manually modified the file. but that was not the problem. The P-47D (now called P-47D-27 Late) does work and the other P-47's work too, except one: seems that I've lost use of the P-47-D27 (not the "late" with modified name but the D27 that was already called so in the original game.

I'll try to figure out what's happened after some good playing, in the meantime please post some suggestions if you have one.
I searched for P-47 in files.txt but didn't find anything, and no P-47 specific mod is in my list of installed mods.
The only P-47 mod I have is the name change that don't actually do anything more than changing one line in one conf file, and not even about the P-47 that I've lost.

What mod may have screwed the P-47D-27?

Here's the list of everything I installed:
-Soundmod v0.91
-A5M4 w/ cockpit
-B5N2 Kate w/ cockpit & gunner
-B24J w/cp, gun.
-BF109F2 f4 cp repaint
-Bombers package (added after I saw that extra planes weren't working)
-C47 w/cp
-F6F mirror
-Fw190 A8, A9, D9, F8 Flat canopy
- Askania gunsights ta183 & 190D9
-Fw189 w/cp
-FW200 w/cp, gun.
-6 DOF mouse (v. lookaround)
-ju-53 w/cp, gun.
-Mc 200 1, 7, 7FB cp
-me323 w/ cp, gun.
-mk2 gyro gunsight for spit IX
-change P-47D to P-47D-27 Late (uninstalled, file manually edited. problem does not concern that a/c)
-AI nav lights off
-P51 mirror
- reticles mod v.3
-smoke effects
-su2 w/cp, gun, bombsight
-zero cleaned reticles

Everything seems to work fine now except for the P-47-d27
Thanks to all the uploaders and thanks for the answers to this thread, now it's one last step from completely fixed.
And merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate, or just happy tuesday the 25th if you don't celebrate anything.

Solved.
The last problem left, the missing P-47D-27, was caused by the gyro gunsight available (The link is inoperative) HERE
There is an updated v.2 for it now, and it working for some people, I uninstalled the old version and the P-47 was back but when I tried the new version it was gone again, so I'll have to do without the gyro gunsight... for now. Hopefully I'll be able to use next version.
