Bombswawys Pacific Water mod for the BP_midway map.
#1

I really like the BP_Midway map from panzerkeil and Boosher so, I put my pacific water mod to it. For you to use this, you need to download and install the BP_Midway map and install it.
viewtopic.php?t=7529&highlight=bpmidway

Then download my Pacific Water Mod for the BP_Midway map.

If you already have the map just back up the load.ini in the midway folder in your MapMod/Maps and place my load.ini in the midway folder in your Mods/MapMods/Maps folder and the Bombsaway_Tarawa folder in Mods/Mapmods/Maps/_Tex folder if you dont already have it.

Thanks panzerkeil and Boosher for such a cool map and Viking for his water color.
Thanks panzerkeil for permission to do this.

Looks bloody marvelous!
Is it possible to make that water colour the default colour for certain maps?

Thats what this does. If you add any of new modded maps to your QMB it will show the new colors. you can also go right now to quick mission builder and fly over the pacific islands, if you downloaded that one, and you will see the new colors. You dont have to be stuck with just FMB. Big Grin

Hi There,

I tested this mod out on some of my South Pacific maps.

So much for hard Pacific fighting.

They look more like pure holiday destinations.

I love the atmosphere you have created.

Awesome Job Big Grin

You can also change color of the water on any other map if you have load.ini file for that map. It is this line

Quote:[WATER]
Water = water/PacificWater.tga
WaterColorATI = 0.000 0.181 0.225
//WaterColorATI = 0.140 0.175 0.230
WaterColorNV = 0.140 0.185 0.268
//WaterColorNV = 0.140 0.185 0.268

Where that three values (with four digits each) are actually RGB, red, green and blue channels of the color. By removing red (putting 0.000 value) you have rid of a tinted look of water, which is great for southern and more shallow water, but it looks somewhat unrealistic in the north or in deep ocean. You can have any color of the water you want, but RGB channels are not colors they are all making color, for instance red channel in IL2 mostly governs green color, that’s why it is all so bright green and waters are too much tinted.

I used this solution for my Benghalli map: little bit darker shade of blue of the water then Bombsaway’s but very bright green textures for the shallow water, so to make contrast between deep and shallow. Problem is that shallow water textures causes that famous stuttering with water=3 and 4 settings.

With this Bombsaway's settings I find "Shallows4a_Fields_A" texture to give the best results. (nice contrast), and now where I put my shades and cocktail . . . Big Grin

Hey Bombsaway, what do i need to do, if i want to use those TGA's to modify the water-colour in another map, say "The Slot" map for an example?
