Prop pitch and radiator?
#1

I really don't like the fact that when I'm flying a Spit IX I can't set the prop pitch and the radiator position manually, like on the Vb. Would it be difficult to create a mod which would make this possible? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

You can adjust prop settings on the Mk IX.. Set the relevant keystroke in your controls menu..

In a IX? really? In a Vb I can, but those keys don't have any effect in the IX. What do you mean? and what about the radiator?

i dont think it will Be done. What if somebody dosent have the mod? you might be accused of cheating because of overheat and speed etc.....

I don't think so...automatic settings are "perfect". The game adjusts it everytime, if you take control over it, you can't do any better than the game.

The auto settings are far from perfect. They adjust constantly when your temp changes, decreases your speed most of all. In the P-51 esspecially the manual rad settings are important to speed. You can leave it open at Rad 4 and cool it plenty.

Also its better to use manual prop pitch on the 190, once you learn the proper settings for rpm and ATA, you can squeeze more performance out of the Butcher Bird.

Find the toggle for auto prop in the control menu.. Just assign a key for it.. and yep, on the MkIX, I've just flown it again and adjusted my prop speed.., you have to toggle the auto setting to off, then you can adjust the prop manualy.
The radiator setting unfortunately does not have a toggle switch, so on the Mk IX you can't adjust it..

Late MKIX and MKVIII had the ability to mechanically link the throttle to the prop lever. This provided a pseudo Auto prop pitch system. The pilot could remove the linkage at any time then reverting to a standard Constant Speed operation. this system is modelled in IL2
