Missing paratroopers?
#1

I was restarting a campaign I had played half through awhile back on my un-modded IL2.

Well got a few mods now and when I went to fly the second mission.
I got this error message at about 75%.

"Mission loading failed. Unable to load Mesh 3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/Mono.sim"

Well went into the mission, took out a couple C-47's that were about and didn't have a real need to be there from what I could tell, and figured they were proly gonna drop the problem troops. And I still get the error.

Help. Sad

I dug around and could not find the "missing" file in either my modded or un-modded versions of IL2. (Was going to try and copy it over from my un-modded copy and see if it fixed it)

A google search seemed to indicate this is some wierd random error.

I got it while creating a DCG campaign for the new Philippines map.

I removed all the ships from the campaign (since it was naval and had only one ground unit per side), and then I was able to generate the campaign.

SO I started adding ships again..and testing the regeneration.. and then bam, I would get that error.

Couldn't really determine what ship might be causing it.. and I dont even think its a particular ship because Ive used them all in campaigns before.

Its a freaky error thats for sure.

Ahh. I may just have to "tweak" the mission some more to get it to load. So I can continue on.
Hate doing that though to something someone took the time to create. but if it's the only way.
I'll look for which ships it has in it and try to find out which gives the error.
If I find it I'll post up my findings.
The sim runs fine I can just exit out to the main menu and play another campaign.

Odd for sure.

Thanks for the response. Smile
Now at least I know it could be a ship causing it.

Without really knowing how things work, would it be worth extracting the mono.sim file from the game (fb_3do.sfs file) using the sfs extractor and putting it into a mapmods/3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia folder?

Cheers

I've not messed with the guts of the game other than installing MODS.
But that does sound like a fix...... maybe. A MOD making guru would have to chime in on that one.

But I did find out what was causing it on mine.

I had two Russian subs (surfaced) And one Russian destoryer docked on the map.
I removed all three and there you have it. I can fly the mission. Big Grin

I will poke around gently at what you said though.
