FW190A series strategy guide.

Gunkan, tell me how to beat up an La-5FN with an Anton 6? I know pretty well how to kill the other 100< Ally planes but the Oleg's favourite Star Wars plane seems to be too good for my tactics to handle.

The best tactics against La5FN is a wingman in rotte. The La5FN is faster than FW190A6 and it will caught you when you try to run away if it is at your six. Radio coordinate yourselves and work together to kill it.

I put you some videos of fighting against La's in FW190:

Plane is important, but the most important is the PILOT.

Good La5FN pilots fly always faster than 500km/h, but the most of the pilots only like to turn and slow down themselves. The second ones are easy prey, the first ones are really difficult to shoot down.

- Against La5FN, if you are alone, try to head-on and fire everything you got. After this just dive to a friendly base and take cover with your own AAA.
- Altitude advantage is the best weapon, but is difficult to take because La5FN climbing is a rocket.
- Defensive maniouver, the most usefull are high speed scissors and split-s.

Sorry, the videos are in spanish, no english.

Thanks hotdog, I'm always looking for advice on the 190's for my slow transition from the 109s... and to everyone else posting help. The 190 really is a stunning aircraft when flown properly, as far as I can see a wingman is almost essential, really isn't a 1v1 type.

I'm getting used to the manual engine management... oops, dived too fast and blew it again... try again

I would have said that the Zero and 190 are almost polar opposites, though each to their own I guess.

Fly with you again soon HD

well with the advent of 4.09 servers and possible inclusion of the a3 into the list, it should be easier i you arent experienced in it, because the team created the kommandogerat (something like that) to control the rpm, prop pitch and manifold pressure. So you have less to fiddle with and all you really need to do is shoot some one down.

Well thanks... I needed some tactics advice because UK 1's Novgorod map is always filled up with Oleg's fav planes (yes, I mean tha La-5FN) which cannot be headed on because if you do so, they
a) RAM
b) outmanouver, inmanouver, super-hyper-

Ctrl+E is the best tactic against a La-5FN...so, always stay in friendly territory.

...all Focke Wulf's had "kommandogeraet"....it controled throttle, boost, prop pitch, fuel injection system and spark plug ignition timings all related to altitude....it was technical piece of art Smile....you had manual prop pitch control as option....

First up, I'm not a 190 expert but I have certainly flown them quite a bit in the game and pretty much exclusively at present.

I agree with a lot of what Bigsilver has to say but there are a couple of things that I simply don't agree with, based on my own experience and reading.

Roll rate in the 190 is very good but in reality only a little better than some other types.

As far as overall performance is concerned, the 190 could at best be described as 'patchy' when compared to a number of late war types.

The use of manual prop pitch isn't, in my opinion, a matter of personal preference. You really need to master pp if you want to get the most out of the A series.

Going vertical with a bandit 400-500 meters behind you would be the closest thing to virtual suicide I can imagine. The bandit will kill you or you will stall and then he will kill you. In my experience, if you are on the deck and you have a bandit on your tail, roll is probably your best defence and if that doesn't shake him try to get him to commit to a scissors fight. If your bandit is really good, pray may be another option worth considering.

The very best defense is of course to fly in a group or at the very least, with a wingman. If you are alone and surprised by 2 or more bandits you will probably be shot down, no mater what you are flying.
