You select a base colour, make a camo pattern or a specific colour skin. After that you go through all the layers and use the sliders to get the look you want. When you're happy with it, save that as a 24Bit TGA file in the ...\PaintSchemes\Skins\[aircraft]\ directory and try it out in the game.
