No audio ingame
#1

Yesterday I went on hyperlobby for the first time and when the game began there was no audio whatsoever. The rest of my computer had normal audio but the game was completely muted.

I have no mods except AAA and I have no sound regardless of which version I used
I run vista and have a VIA hd audio deck

I had AAA long before the sound problem came up.
I've been poking around in some of the text files in the IL2 directory and found this:

-- new session --
num channels 16
cannot open file for reading
Cannot open audio file samples/Jumo211_2701.wav
cannot open file for reading
Cannot open audio file samples/xJumo211_2701.wav
Speaker config restored.
Audio finished.
Initializing DirectSound playback device...
Primary buffer created.
Playback format is set : sampling rate = 44100, num channels = 2.
Not enought hardware buffers (0), hardware disabled
Buffer caps : Transfer rate = 0, CPU overhead = 0.
Default speaker config is : 1310724.
Direct sound audio device initialized successfully :
DX Version : 7
Hardware - disabled [buffers : 0]

changing "Hardware-disabled" to "enabled" had no effect

In other words, I haven't found any obvious reason why the audio stopped working and can't see how installing hyper lobby would cause it

Actually figured this one out. Go to the file conf and set "sounduse" to 1

One of the reasons that sound issues are hard to address by the guys here is that they are so individual to each system. It's good that you got it figured out because doubtfully many people would have given you suggestions but many (including me) would have been wrong, cheers Wink
