Just a question (or maybe I misunderstood), but where did you see that P-40 where French?

You could have made it a bit easier on yourself and got an image like this one and simply copied the "Little jeanne" over. It looks like the lettering is thicker.

You'd find there will be others who will point and say "that's not right". Big Grin Hand painted lettering can't be recreated with a font, unless you put a lot of extra time into stretching, perspective correcting and bending. Go the easy way and use K.I.S.S. Wink

First up let's say 'Fantastic effort'!

I was present at the Gawler airstrip (near Adelaide South Australia) when Murray Griffiths flew 'LITTLE JEANNE" in for an 83 Squadron RAAF reunion sometime around 2004.
Murray runs Precision Aerospace, a warbird restoration business out of Wangaratta Victoria Australia.
'Little Jeanne' a P40N, was one of Murray's restorations. I had the pleasure of having a good chinwag with Murray at Gawler airstrip (formerly home to 83 Sqn RAAF who operated P40's amongst other types during WWII). Murray also arranged a reunion between 'Little Jeanne' and ex USAAF pilot Lt Robert Warren who had piloted this warbird during the war.

I was extended the honour of sitting up in this magnificent warbird and having the opportunity to snap many pics from within the cockpit. A friend passed up my camera and I got ready to start shooting. Problem was that I'd used the last roll of film on the P40 with external shots and had unknowingly left my film bag at home ... two weeks later I bought my first digital camera!!

Anyway enough of that.
If you felt like tweaking your already fantastic skin job then there are a couple of things I can mention based on my photo's and memory.

1. 'Little Jeanne' is slightly larger as per the link provided above by JAMF.
2. There is also the hand painted (litteraly with fingers & thumbs) pilot name 'Lt. Robt Warren' just under the cockpit which can also be seen in the above link.
3. The spinners blue colour at the time I saw it 'in the flesh' (the restoration was then pretty new) was a tone or two lighter.

But again, thats only if you wish to tweak your version of Little Jeanne ... meanwhile I for one am seriously looking forward to your completed version after which that skin will become my most used in future missions.

Keep up the great work Rock!

Cheers n Beers Smile
