Yeah, force AA for screenshot-taking purposes - it makes a massive improvement. If you've got an NVIDIA card, go to the NVIDIA control panel, then Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Il-2 Sturmovik (browse to the .exe). Turn antialiasing up to 4x or more, and it'll look much nicer.

ATI probably has something similar, but I wouldn't know for sure.
