current skins are 1024 by 1024 bmp.
is there any way to make them higher res so more detail can be shown in game?

...got the same question, as far as a i know you could make detail larger on a seperate layer but you will have to downsize it, and the game just ignores everything thats larger than 1024x1024x72.... :???:

Maybe , if this is the case, someone could make a mod to allow higher res skins
