How do i get the extra info displayed like i keep seeing in you tube videos (All i have is Heading atm) I would like speed + Altitude, and i've also seen extra info on flap position (mine is controlled off an axis, does this effect the flaps messages?)

Thanks in advance

hi senn
for the HUD display, make sure that in your difficulty settings you have 'No Speed Bar' unchecked, ie: no little red light on.
You can then also assign a key to 'Toggle Speed Bar' in your controls, which will cycle the HUD message through various display settings.
You can assign flaps to an axis in the 'HOTAS' section of the controls for finer control of flaps ( I sometimes use a mouse axis, but another axis would be better....
You will then be able to 'fine-tune' your flap settings, but there is no HUD display to indicate this.
The HUD will only display : Raised, Combat, Takeoff and Landing settings for flaps.
Hope this helps.

Cool got the speed bar up.

Yeah the Flaps are assigned to a dial axison my X52's throttle. But i don't get any display on flap position, so its a guessing game atm, i'm especially having problems with carrier takeoffs on the shorter carriers, thats why i wanted to make sure my flaps position was correct, but i'll just have to experiment Smile

Thanks for your help!

Hi

Some aircraft like the P40 come with a 'rudimentary' visual aid (top notch tech in those days!) on the main Panel, bottom left, which visually show the position of flaps & gear.

However i'm not sure if any of the carrier aircraft come with this aid, but give the P40 a check so you can see & then you can check with other a/c.

Do you get throttle position info when you move your throttle? It shows up on the right side of your screen about a third of the way up from the bottom. If not, then you have your hud messages turned off and you need to turn them on in your conf.ini file and that will give you your flap positions.

Look for this setting and make sure it is set to 0 and your flap positions will show up.

Hi

US_GRANT correct me if i'm wrong pls but this will only show the 3 main positions, up,take off & landing. What he is after i think are the incremental increases, because wjth certain joisticks you can lower & raise flaps by small increments through the use of a slider. This increases are not shown as far as i know, only in some aircraft which come with this aid incorporated in the main panel.

hope you umderstand.....

That's a new one to me. Guess it works. I have an X52; will have to try it out to see.
