Need Help Programming Joystick for IL2
#1

S!

As Jasta 5 prepares for the arrival of the WWI based IL2 mod Canvas Knights, I am having difficulty getting IL2 to map to my desired profile in my Saitek Evo. I understand how to program the HOTAS in IL2, but the problem with that is that it does not want to recognize a shift key nor any kind of key combination. That reduces by 50% the usefullness of buttons on my stick.

What am I missing, is there a workaround?

Also, here are a few strange things I have noticed that when programming HOTAS, which I'm sure you more experienced will understand and be able to explain:

When assigning a button in HOTAS for a defined command, initially the joystick button is listed folllowed by the IL2 command for that function. If I hit again, it deletes the command function (i.e. F4) and simply lists the joystick button I've assigned. Is this significant?

Is there a thread somewhere that I can be directed to regarding these kinds of issues (or some instructions for workarounds). I've searched the site with no joy. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a similar question. Besides the HOTAS, basic configs for wheel locks and brakes, etc. I'd rather have a list to work from that has been successfully tested than spend days trying to work this out for myself. I thought I had all this but its gone AWOL. (Been away from the game almost a year). Thanks for any help you can give

Baumer, it doesn't sound like you are using the SST software to make the profile. Have you installed the SST for your Evo?

What you describe sounds like normal behaviour for mapping key controls in IL-2... you can usually map two different key commands to each control before they start to replace the previous. To map key combinations, like Shift+F1, just make sure you keep holding down the first key, while you press the second key.

For assigning buttons on the Evo, it is better to program the Evo to send the keypresses, rather than just mapping the button in IL-2. For that, you need to create a profile in the SST software.
