Sturmovik loads very slowly and then freezes at 100%

No solution after
1. A clean uninstal and reinstal.
2. Restoring WinXP to earlier.
3. Updating Geforce 6800 to latest dirvers.
Had previously patched to 409b1, now after clean instal patched to 408m. Is there perhaps some hidden setting/file I need to uninstal or instal?

Please help. I am lost without my favourite game!

There may be registry entries left, if you just deleted the game folder, but that actually should not affect the game from running, since it runs fine without the registry entries. Have you tried running IL-2 Setup, and choosing something on video tab that matches your graphics card closely?
