Russian replaces English
#1

Russian voices have replaced the English. I don't know what I've downloaded that replaced the English in my campaigns (DGen and third party), but now, whatever campaign I open, the language spoken is Russian. All writing is still in English. I've spent two days searching for a solution both here, SAS, and Ultra without success. English_Career_Language_Fix hasn't worked. I haven't installed SFX_0_6, because I'm not sure how it would affect my UP2.0 version of IL-2. I've had the Russian voices problem before, and seem to remember some using some file overriding that I saw referred to in one of my searches, but it was too vague to prompt my memory. Will someone please help me?

Ok, somewhere on M4T there are new voice packs to download (can't remember where). They are meant to replace the default GB voices, but should work to overwrite the Russian voices you have now.

Good luck Smile

also try right clicking the program in your start menu, choose properties and run in xp compatibilty mode. i did this and it took care of all that.

Thanks for your suggestions. I've been searching all the IL-2 web pages I can think of, but have so far found nothing that would help. Thesunaside, I tried your solution, but to tell the truth, I don't understand how to accomplish it.

I have discovered that just replacing the Russian voices in the Samples/RU folders don't do anything but replace the Russian voices. This led me to the discovery that the only voice pack that worked was the RU. If I disable the RU folder, no voices seem to replace it. The voices in the missions are silent.
This, then leads me to the belief that there is a file system above the Samples/Speech level that controls everything beneath it. I am sure there is a solution, and I'm sure I used it sometime in the distant past, before I started leaving notes to myself about what I did. All I seem to remember is that it had something to do with copying an *-en file and overriding a *-ru file with it. There used to be a thread about this solution in AAA that I can't find. Can somebody please help me?

Hehe - I just found out that my own language problem was corrected by using the il2setup.exe to change a few graphical settings... after that, suddenly everything was back to normal English. Give it a try, perhaps it works for you too Wink

J99Eingehirner,
Thank you for the reply. I found the IL2 setup.exe, opened it, and from that point, I don't know what I need to do. I see tabs for Driver, Video, Joystick, Sound, Network. I didn't see anything in any of these that referred to English. Please tell me what you did. My computer skill is about 3 of 10.
