Mods for IL2FB
#1

I'm running IL2:FB v. 2.04 and I'm having a difficult time finding mods for it here .

I must admit I haven't played this game in YEARS so forgive me if I've missed anything in the meantime.

I believe if you want to mod your game you have to have IL2-1946,the only thing you will be able to add is skins, missions and campaigns.

Hi,

If you get the digital download version of IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 V4.08m, then you will get it in the speed it takes to complete the download. Smile I got mine through Direct2Drive ( direct2drive.com ).

You'll need the patch for digital downloads of 1946:

Add this patch before you do anything else with the download version.

For online flying I recommend HSFX 4.1 mod pack and for offline I recommend Unified Installer Download 1.2 ( UI 1.2 ).

Good general information to get you started can be found-look for my post called: " Mods Download Help Here... " Click:

You'll need to read this to get the information about how to test for corrupt download files and other important issues to save you time and effort.

I am very glad you are with us. The mods will absolutely amaze you. Have fun flying!

@ Fireskull: I'd been reading through the mods section and was drooling over what I found there, but to my chagrin I found that the mods weren't working for me. Guess it'd help if I'd read the forum heading a bit more closely....

I prefer to have my games in hard copy format if possible, so I'll have to hold off on getting the IL2 1946 until I get some things in RL settled and in order. Until then I'll have to start making up my christmas list of mods I want to make to my future install.

On a side note I've noticed that there were 2 versions of 1946. The 4.08 and the 4.09 (and I hear that there's a 4.10 in development). What are the differences between 4.09 and 4.08?

@ redarrows2006: I've been to that site but haven't quite searched it fully yet and thankyou for the link.

I didn't notice a rookies section for me to post any intros in so sorry ahead of time.

The 4.09m is the official patch to go onto 4.08. The patch adds a few planes, map improvements, and some fixes. Not a big deal in itself, but the 4.09 is needed to install any recent major mod packs and all future ones. I recommend eventually getting a mod pack for offline or online flying. The number of mods is huge and includes almost all the best and most recent ones, as well.

The rumours of 4.10 might be true-we'll see. No information has come yet before my eyes about this. My prediction is that 1C: Maddox Games will pitch the 4.10 idea to focus on the gigantic Storm of War series to be launched in a few months.

I have one mod pack-UI 1.2 for offline mods collecting and flying. My online mod pack is somewhat different-HSFX 4.1 for compatibility with other online players and quick load time. If I add mods to the 4.1, I can do it in a way that allows me to quickly turn mods ON and OFF, however-if I did, the load time would increase with mods added to it, defeating the purposes of having the pack.

Simply put, I recommend to guys that they have one mod pack for offline flying and mods collecting. Have another mod pack for online compatibility.

The present mods and the ones that are a work in progress will just simply blow your mind. You've only read about a small fraction of the ones available. Getting a mod pack will help you get a big start on your collection.

Here's an example of a mod pack formula: 4.08m + 4.08 download version patch + official 4.09m + Unified Installer 1.1 ( UI 1.1 ) + UI 1.2

Here's a link to my help for new guys. It gives basics for mod pack downloading. Look for my post entitled, " Mods Download Help Here... " Click:

Plan for the future-I'm sure you'll get hooked on the good stuff.
