Help! Loading problem with HSFX
#1

I installed HSFX v4.0 and 4.1 The game booted up fine until I messed around with version switcher to v.4.09b1 with SDOF. Now the game bootup freezes at 20% and I get error message saying game could not read memory. What have I done wrong and how do I fix this? I tried reinstalling HSFX but same thing is happening.

Thanks,

Hi, "Compans"

The "v.4.09b1" is totally not compatible with the HSFX. The HSFX 4.0 and 4.1 use the JSGME Mods Enabler which you can shortcut by looking in the main IL-2 registry for the yellow "G" icon of the JSGME.exe

Simply right click on the JSGME and a window will appear with the option to create a shortcut. Once you make it, drag the shortcut to Desktop, or better, to your icon tab of the TaskBar which is accessed behind the >> symbol in Vista or Win7.

Here is a quick guide for you about the HSFX, for the benefit of everyone who is considering things here:

The HSFX 4.1 contains very close to all the Unified Installer mod pack content and many other mods in it too, such as SAS, HSFX, and so forth. All this is in a smaller hard drive space than the UI because of the sfs file system of compressing contents to disk. The system also makes the HSFX 4.1 to be fast loading with quick transitions among functions.

The HSFX 4.1 and 4.11 add-on for it might actually improve IL-2 performance a little depending on your choice of settings. I use it and this has been my experience. In the JSGME Mods Enabler, if you activate Low Effects, then that should help especially when there are many planes, objects, and damage effects during mission battle. Owners of poweful computer systems could set the Perfect Map Textures and Effects High, so there is something for everyone. The HSFX 4.1 is an unusually fast loading mod pack for a large one, despite having many features and mods.

Adding of any one among the many mods possible out there probably won't hurt IL-2 performance or a small decrease in most cases. A few mods can put a big hit against performance! This is one of the many reasons why I like the JSGME Mods Enabler because the user can easily activate or deactivate mods and quickly see the results.

Usually an IL-2 fan can add some mods with no noticeable hit against performance, but this can have exceptions.

Some mods are not compatible with certain mod packs. Always get instructions from the publishing website, author of the mods, or the READ ME file that often comes with the mod.

Activate the History Mods to get a bunch of cool stuff with no worry about any significant performance decrease, if any. For offline, you may want to try the Dgen Offline Campaigns. Anyway...

Corrupt files in the download can cause many kinds of strange things in IL-2. Also, having incorrect graphics card drivers can do it. Conflicting graphics settings can also cause anomalies such as you described.

In the below links, I will help you get to the general areas ( topics and posts ) where you can look and see several crucial subjects to examin and fix the issues.

1) How to get the HSFX 4.1 mod pack

This mod pack includes very nearly all the UI 1.1, 1.2, and beta 1.2.5 mods plus a bunch of other mods like SAS, HSFX, and so forth. It comes with the HSFX 4.1 download.

Here is the link on how to get the HSFX 4.1 and later you can get the 4.11 add-on for it.

2) Adding Mods to the HSFX 4.1 using the JSGME Mods Enabler

To make a shortcut for the JSGME Mods Enabler, simply look into the main IL=2 registry of the IL-2 folder. Among the main registry of files and folders is the JSGME with the big G as a folder icon. It is JSGME.exe and you can right click on it to open a window which includes the option to make a shortcut to Desktop.

In the JSGME Mods Enabler, you can activate the DGen Offline Campaigns and the HSFX History Mods, among other things to enjoy more of the awesome mods.

3) Computer, Benchmarking, Optimizing, and Tweaking: A computer and IL-2 guide for image quality and performance. After getting a new mod pack, always a good idea to seek the most from IL-2:
