G'day!

Just joined AAS! ^^

Anyway, I have been looking for ways to install new aircraft into the original IL2 Sturmovik. Most forums on installing things are for IL2 Sturmovik 1946. Is there a way to update IL2 Sturmovik or do you have to buy 1946?

If not, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out with installing patchs and mods for IL2.

I'm sorry to say but you do need to buy 1946. The upshot is an awesome sim for a bargain price. With the amount of MODS and skins etc available for it (which are all free) your £7 will be the best investment ever. Seriously.

Fireskull has wrote a Newbie guide for people who are new to the mods. I suggest you to read it trough and follow all the steps. Like Philip said, the 7£ is nothing compared to what you get for free here.

Everything that was in the original IL-2 is included in the content for 1946. The original missions and recorded tracks may not work correctly, but all the planes, maps, ground objects and other stuff is packaged in. There's also been nearly 10 years of progressive improvement since the original game. The upgrade is worth it.
