On number 4, there is an alternate possibility, use a field mod J strafer. The glazing was painted over, and guns added at the expense of the bombadier station. Externally identical to the J we have except a few MGs out the nose, and the glass just painted over.

This is what the D strafers were.

The major benefit would be that there would not need to be a new nose sculpted (the solid nose was a different shape).

The 87 - very possible to land on a still carrier without much real effort...
