All the stock maps are 1:1
The modded maps can be taken as 1:1 unless they say otherwise in the notes.
1:1 maps include Malta, The Slot, Kapteenis Finland maps, and many others.
Maps which are not 1:1 include Canons Channel Map and the Central Med Map

Eh? Most of the stock maps are much smaller scale than they should be. Canon's Channel Map is definitely 1:1 if you don't use the beta version.

Some are mixed :
Beautiful Viking's KRETA map is 1:1 BUT Kreta island is more in the north than its actual place...

...depending which one : you can't count in those which are dogfight fictive ones : Italy online, Med online....etc

Confusedhock: Hmmm, don't know what you've been flying.

Isle of Wight = 36 km E-W : Canon's BoB map = 26 km.
Dover to Calais = 40 km : Canon's BoB map = 30 km.
It's 3/4 scale, more or less. The forthcoming 352nd Group version will be 1:1.

Plus, as has been said already, the 'geographically realistic' stock maps ARE 1:1. They might sometimes be inaccurate, but they're not scaled down.

Off topic (sorry  ): I have my doubts if or when this map will be released. They haven't shown some serious progress for a few months now and their answers to questions about it are rather vague to be honest.
A long time ago they used to show us a lot of screenshots of the airfields, landscape etc.

Accuracy and scale are two different issues.
The "accuracy" of the various 1:1 maps varies considerably.

The stock Italian online map is "semi-fictional" in that parts of it resemble parts of the Italian coastline, but then Sardinia has been moved closer and the Messina Straits have been omitted entirely, along with other distortions. Be nice to see more 1:1 Italian maps. One centred on the Gustav Line and Monte Cassino including Anzio would be good, and do able at 1:1.

When looking at questions of accuracy a lot of minor differences are down to limitations in the game engine, such as widths of rivers and bridges having to be located at sea level.

+1 Lejo Big Grin

What is done is done - that means : playable (even if not perfect).
What is not provided is just ... WELL ... awaited.

Indeed, but my El Alamein map is 1:1 and with no geographic funny business.

i might go about making a 1:1 map, but i would probably need some help in the area of the actors ini, and static files.

I actually made a couple fictional maps, so i have an idea of the different tgas involved and what they do. My challenge is working detail into the textures that my computer is otherwise not good enough to handle.

Also, if i go about making a 1:1 map of say, Italy, is there a draw back to having such a large map size. ie memory load, etc.

I was also thinking of two or three maps to make up a 1:1 rendition of the East and West. I've heard murs murs of a team already working on something like this but nothing has been released for some time.

Denmark WIP 6 is 1:1. Included in UP 2.0 and HSFX 4.1, no credits though Cry

Ooops  . Sorry m8. I'll make sure that they appear whenever 4.2 is done. (Won't be for quite a few months yet though.) One chap did all the compiling for v4.1, hopefully I can take some of the stress from him as far as the maps (and readme) are concerned.

 (aka 242Sqn_Cat)

PS Are you still working on Denmark, that is, with an eye to a bit more populating?

Hi dunkelgrun,

Yes, still forging on with the Denmark 1:1 although Eagles Lair 2.0 is taking time too, I'll be calling for betatesters for Eagles Lair 2.0 hopefully soon - it'll have a more friendly licensing model, my first attempt fell flat on it's face, I must admit.

Regarding the Denmark 1:1. Working on perfecting the textures atm, the WIP 6 is still rather wrong in certain areas, esp. the coastline - Danish farmland does NOT extend all the way to the North Sea  it's all beaches and dunes. Filling in airfields and getting cities and villages established - last part wil be populating with objects (although there are a gazillion farms there already 8) ).

Could you give me a heads-up when you've set a date for the 4.2 release, I'll do my best to have an updated Denmark 1:1 ready (with some luck - i.e hard work - not a WIP).

Was a bit disappointed not receiving credit (or even being consulted) but, on a more positive note, I must say I was very flattered that it after all was deemed good enough (being a WIP) to be included in the 4.1 pack Big Grin
