Filefront link sent to Mr J tonight for these
Skin Pack of Spitfire MkVIII's flown by 79 Sqn RAAF
A58-513/UP-X flown by Sqn Ldr Ron Susans. This was the first MkVIII presentation aircraft raised through the Australian Victory Bond scheme, hence it was named 'AVB The 1st'. This aircraft was finished in what the ground crew described as an almost Black/Green, with a Sky Blue under nose and looked 'Really Classy'
In this aircraft Susan is reputed to have flown several hundred miles to Sydney to go on leave, with a friend riding in the radio compartment while holding a Cocker Spaniel dog that had been presented to the Sqn Ldr!
A58-522/UP-A flown by Flt-Lt Len Reid. This aircraft was delivered in the standard RAF Dark Green/Ocean Grey with Medium Grey underside, Sky Spinner.
Named 'Hal Far' after Reids exploits on Malta, from which he returned as an 'Ace'
A58-492/UP-B flown by F-O Hugh Kennare and named 'Mac III', green spinner indicates a 'B' Flight aircraft.
A58-651/UP-Z flown by Sqn Ldr Ken James and named 'Judy III' from Morotai in 1945.
A58-517/UP-F flow by Flt-Lt Norm Smithell and named 'Hava Go Jo' with a pink Elephant representing Walt Disneys 'Dumbo. The Green Spinner indicates that this aircraft belonged to 'B' Flight.
The variation in colours is explained by the fact that Vickers-Armstrong were unwilling to provide/apply a Pacific paint scheme suitable for the RAAF's 657 Spitfire aircraft and the various Foliage Green schemes were locally painted to provide a better camoflage over the Pacific Oceans various colours of water.
The white wing leading edges and tails were added to aid identification for other Allied aircraft in the theatre.
Included in the pack are various RAAF Roundel versions and also tail flash only versions.
Made with a heavily modified template by Jester/FBS with bits by Robo. All other stuff by Kristorf
Also fit new MkVIII's
