Gun Switching
#1

Hey,
has anyone thought about a special function in the game where you electronically switch the guns like in real life? You shut off one set of guns rather than another. In other words, you select 2 .50 calibers instead of 6 .50 caliber machine guns or 4 .50 caliber machine guns for example electronically. It saves ammunition and prevents tracers from overshooting the aircraft. You do this by key function by switching off the guns or cannon for example. I was wondering if somebody has figured out how to do this.

You switch between 4 50 calber machine guns or 2 fifty caliber machines or 6 50 caliber machine guns or cannon depending on your selection like an old flight sim I once played all electronically.
I would like very much to save ammunition.

the game has the option to switch off the gunpods so this must be possible, i use this when i fly the 190 to save cannons when the first set of cannons runs dry i switch on the second pair and i never loose fire power.

I would like to have something like that on the tempest too.

Another really interesting option would be to de-synchronized the canons. Instead of having 4 canons firing together, having 2+2 will increase the rate of firing. Big Grin

It would be nice to be able to select which guns would fire. There are reports of U.S. pilots in planes equipped with six machine guns to use only four in combat, reserving two in case they ran out of ammo in the other four.

yes, i remember reading that. i think it was mostly only the early F4F wildcats though. also the P-39/P-400 could fire or NOT fire their nose cannon. same i think for the P-38 lightning cannon/machineguns. most other fighers though fired them ALL or nothing, as far as i remember.

I know the Corsair had arming switches to allow the pilot to select guns in pairs; inboard, middle, and outboard.

In the first version of the Aces Exp. the Mustang had fire button 1 : 2xmgs, fire button 2: 4x mgs, but oleg change it to make it easier for allied pilots

also the Fw 190 A series should be able to switch between Mgs and Cannons. Every Book said that the FW 190 Revi was able to that

the A series could fire their Mgs alone !!!!!!

I wish more planes had this option, also the P39 etc...

Now you can fire:

Button 1: Mg's
Button 2: Cannons
Buttons 1 + 2: All guns

In some planes like in 190 A series you can switch off the outter cannons with the gunpod off option, so basicly in 190s you have this option.

very usefull in combat cause switching off outther cannons you have more time of exelent firepower.

Yeah I know that the P47 has split guns, I also fly allied planes

But I cannot believe that the Fw190 A series had not the ability to fire the Mgs alone.....also all books said that the Pilot of a FW could switch to MG / Cannon Configurations

What a waist of 20 mm ammo, i alway use the MG to check my aiming, and then if I sure a used the cannons too
