Reworking some templates, anybody interested?
#1

Hi all, I've been messing with a couple of my jesters-ink templates lately, and thought I'd ask what y'all think about them so far. Are they worth uploading? I know that these are pretty darn commonly skinned a/c, but I thought I'd try my hand at them anyway. I used some of revolver's layers on the 109, but I'm holding off on uploading the skins, because I want to do a pack of generics for all of the 109 variants between F and K. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, let me know what you think! Any suggestions or comments, good or bad, are very welcome.

Here are some samples of the Bf-109:
If you want to try them out, just right click and "save as" bitmaps, though you will need "bright" to convert them to indexed mode.

Idunno if it's accurate, but I like the scheme:

Any template is always welcome. I love Jester's work. I've created a very nice (LARGE) P47 template with his work as the baseline.

I'll be uploading the completed skins shortly.

Hey Jaypack,

The skins are looking good mate. Couple of little things I noticed, and these are just my opinions for my own skins...

As cool as the internal engine details look, the aren't needed on the 109 from the F model on. The Emil is the only 109 that models damage on the engine cowls to expose the engine guts. The loop antenna on the G6-K4 sample their textures from area of the big FBS logo on the header, so you can paint it to match your cammo pattern. Just be sure to replace or create a new FBS tag for credit.

Also, if you use Revolver's or FBS' pits for the corresponding models....instead of the Emil pit that you currently have, it just adds a little bit more "realism" to the skins. However, if you prefer the look of the Emil pit, don't change a thing. Make your skins your way, the way you like them

Another little detail thing would be to check out the "detail study" that Sir Jay QC did for the 109s a couple years ago...I think Revolver included it in one of his 109 templates. It pinpoints all the little bits and bobs you can paint to change the color of the prop blades, gunsight structure and a slew of other stuff. I think the original template that thing came from is still up at the France Simulatation Magazine website...just Google it and look for Sir Jay QC's templates.

Anyhow...the work is really good man. Cheers for sharing the skins! Big Grin
