never fear Blackjack...you will run IL-2 like administrator but also all program around whit XP. I resolved problem like this have O.S .vista 64 bit and 8 giga ram.IL-2 1946 and U.I. 1.1 arounds wonderful....on the other band have small bug!! i not flyer whit spit MKI, fairy battle, ecc.. the object i not see:lal fortification,dvlegypt,ecc.. on the other band shippack2 function perfect..mistake of the informatic.this is my help i will to give .see you again and sorry for my english
yes il2 works fine with vista. there is a whole thread on it here in AAA and at the IL2 forums at Ubi. i would suggest going into security and running it as admin. your sure it loaded right?
Yeah I'm pretty sure it was done properly, but the game just won't play at all.
The disk was in there the entire time and it really was an original disk, I used it on XP and it really worked great, but now that I've moved on for Vista, though it does install, it just won't start.
I might as well tell you about my computer's specs hoping it can make things easier along with the configuration about IL-2 that I have.
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q2800
ATI Radeon HD 4350 Graphic Card
8 GB RAM
750GB Hard Drive.
64 bits type.
And of course, Vista 64 for a Windows System
It didn't even worked to divide the computer into one part with XP and the other on Vista 64, I'm just getting desperate now.
If anyone could take some time for an FAQ post/thread around here, I think it could help out, I'm pretty sure there are more people with this problem.
Back on topic, I've tried everything I knew to make it work, I even called in some friends of mine that knows even more about computers than I did, still it doesn't work either.

Get out the il2 folder of program files. Copy it at c:\ or inside another folder like c:\sim.
Vista aplies special security to folder files program.
Ok, works ok but still some smaller problems this time.
While I have sounds on my Vista side, however I don't have any sounds at all on my XP side.
I need help with vista as well.
I installed il-2 ok, but I am running an ati card and I can only run it in directx not opengl. How do I run it in opengl? as I have a fairly good card and it should run il-2 on max setting with good fps, but when I run it in directx I can't get the landscape to be perfect. When I run it in opengl it says that I don't have the load.inis installed. I unistalled the game, and then re-installed it, but the same problem persits. Can anyone who has an ati card help me? as I want to run this game with a perfect landscape. Incidentally, I haven't installed any mods either as I want to sort the problems out.
