Looking for a good joystick...
#1

...to replace my current Flight Yoke.

The yoke is good, but not really the thing for a quick air-to-air duel (more suited for simulating commercial aviation stuffs), due to the fact I have to bolt it to the table in a way that prevents me from using my fingers for the next ten minutes.

I'd like a durable, lightweight stick that's got all the buttons I'll need for Il-2. Any suggestions?

I have the X-52 and I love it, also the stick and throttle both have suction cups. Strong ones.

" Looking for a good joystick"...that's what she said.

Seriously, X-52. Best bang for the buck IMO. I've used mine for years with no problems.

i got a Logitech extreme 3D pro, its not extremly expansive, and its a good this to have whilst saving for a bigger & better one, it doesnt have suction cups, but the base with its low counter-wheight make it not hvy 2 move for transport, but gives good stability

(i know its a bit a straight forward google search, but gives a fast view how the joystick looks like)

Wow, lotta suggestions.

Okay, so the consensus seems to be get either a CH product or the X-52.

I need, primarily, the joystick to A) Have enough buttons to fire all relevant weapons, B) Have a hat switch for looking around quickly, and C) Include rudder and throttle controls.

As of yet, I haven't found a CH joystick which is explicitly described as having all those capabilities.

Also, what is the difference between the X-52 and the X-52 PRO? Apart from the double price.

X-52 Pro has more lights and shiny bits. The MFD is different and some control placements are different but functionally it's the same as the X-52.
I looked at the Pro model but didn't see or feel the need to move from the X-52. Actually I liked it less due to some minor changes in hat/button placements. Overall I felt it didn't offer enough for me to switch.
Both use Saitek's excellent SST software to program the HOTAS. With three modes you should have no reason to use the keyboard anymore while flying.

My 2 kopecks, save the money and go with the original X-52.

I've decided to spring for the X-52. We'll see if it treats me kindly.

i have the CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro pedals. they are excellent...
I bought them a piece at a time, but I am glad that I did.
Along with Track IR makes a flying game great fun.

I also make profiles for COD and Brothers in arms and halo so I can use the buttons on my Fighterstick & logiteck mouse.. works just great.

If your going to be a long time flight simmer the CH would be a very good choice, if not, then anything will likely do.
