Great update....It is nice to have a smooth change of the FOV !

One question, do you know if we can run two devicelink devices at the same time?

I use Skippy's IL2 mod v. 1.2: this is a great little software which provides you with useful information like your pitch. Now this mod uses only port 6060. San's FOV changer uses 1711.

Is there a way to have them work at the same time?

Ok...I installed this and got it working, but I am curious about something. Maybe someone can help me out. I understand and see that this gives you more options of views and a wider FOV that is available in the game. But i've noticed that you can get that same widescreen view in the game without this mod by just using the "wideview" in the original Il2 options. For example, if I use San's "normal view" number of 80, I can get a wider view WITHOUT San's by using the in-game "wideview" . Now with that being said, San's "normal view" gets a wider FOV than the game's default "normal view", but the default, in-game "wide view" gives me alot more FOV than san's "normal view" of 80. I hope I making sense here. I guess what I'm trying to ask here is that, unless you're gonna use an extreme FOV (100FOV or more), whats the point of having this with a wide screen monitor/TV when you can get a wide view setting in-game? Just wondering if I'm missing something here. Thanks!

You CANNOT get a real widescreen view with original game and options, nor editing conf.ini.

Severinsen, what Wilhelm is saying is that though it looks like a widescreen view, if you look closely you will notice that portions of the display are chopped off the top and bottom. FOV eliminates this and actually addeds to the display rather than cropping the display.

I run 3 monitors in 1280x1024 for a 3840x1024 display. Prior to FOV I lost 1/3 of the display off the top and 1/3 off the bottom. When I zoomed all the way out, I still couldn't see certain areas above my cockpit. A real blind spot that my human opponents routinely used against me. With FOV, I now have a non-cropped view. I can see everywhere others can see, elminiating that overhead blind spot.

The wider your screen the bigger the difference. Trust me. Big Grin

Thanks guys. I can see all this that you're talking about. I guess it just depends on what FOV you want. Cause like I said, if I put san's FOV on 80 (normal view), then use the standard in-game wideview for comparison, I see more around the screen in the standard wide view (i guess cause it zooms out). But, if you wanted a really wide view of say 100 or had 3 monitors, I could see this program making a difference. One thigh that really confused me is a test I did after I typed the question on this tread. I measured gun-sights and the size of the plane that's in my sight. I thought that if I use a FOV through sans that produces a certain pipper size and a certain enemy aircraft size, I would get more in my screen top and bottom then when I zoom in/out with the in-game FOVs to match the pipper/aircraft size that I used in San's. But I don't...I get the same amount of FOV when I make the targets the same size. So if I use San's FOV to get the pipper a diameter of .5 inches on my screen, I get the same FOV in my screen when I use the in-game FOV's to get the pipper to be .5 inches in diameter. Maybe it's cause I'm using a smaller resolution of 1920x1080.
