Help assigning new material(mat) to mesh file(msh)
#1

Hi guys, wonder if you can help me

I'm using a mesh in a cockpit "borrowed" from one of the excellent new cockpits found here

let's say mesh1.msh with the appropiate mesh1.mat

I need to clone that mesh in order to assign it a new mat file and hence another texture

mesh1.msh >> mesh2.msh now with mesh2.mat

I've been having problems to accomplish that using MshConverter1-18

is there a way to open a binarized mesh and assign it a new mat file so that Il-2 can recognize it, that way I would have the exact mesh 2 times in a cockpit but with different textures each

Rock mate thanks for the responce

I don't have max, and I'm no modeler either Sad

I got the mat editing covered as I opened on notepad and change the texture part to the other one I want to use

But I failed at modifying the Mesh file, I cant tell it to look for the new mat file

I open it in notepad and only ascii characters appear it looks binarized, If I open it with the meshconverter I write the mesh file in text mode, but IL2 won't load it

I'll try that again

BUMP, really need help with this

I'm using a msh file from Ranwer's RDW-8, already tried contacting him, no go

the file is located in: \MODS\RWD-8\3do\Cockpit\RWD-8

it's called: map24.msh

using a mat file called: map24.mat

What I need help with is, cloning the map24.msh to any other name so it is reconfigured to look for a different mat file

ie: map24.msh looks for map24.mat

I need someone help me make a new file like:

ie: map25.msh that looks for map25.mat

I need this because I'm using that mesh twice on a cockpit and I need to display different textures
