HSFX crashes at 60%
#16

my goodness...

does 4.11 need to be installed over 4.1? It looks like it, but is not mentioned anywhere on their site. Some very poor instructions...I enjoyed the AAA community pack so much more!

What a pain it is to remove everything and reinstall. Ill post back after I have done this, and at least one of the reasons for the 60% would be identified.

You are one patch ahead of me. I stopped at 4.1 :oops:
So far I've not needed 4.11

If it runs ok with HSFX History Mod removed then the core install must be ok.
You must install the HSFX Mods in order 4.0, 4.1 ---- then if you want 4.11

If you do not install 4.1 before 4.11 you will be missing aircraft files which 4.11 needs to run.

60% crash means aircraft related stuff is missing.

You should not need to do a complete reinstall.

Deactivate the mods using JSGME so that the game starts in v4.09m Team Diadalos -- unmodded format.
Ensure it starts ok.

Cut and paste the files folder and the jsgmemods folder to a temp folder on desktop for safe keeping. --- delete later if not needed.
Also disable the MODS folder if you have one by renaming -MODS --- (with a new install you should not have one)

Reinstall HSFX 4.0 --- This will create a new files folder and jsgmemods folder.
Try starting the game -- activate mods etc ----- does it all work?

Deactivate the mods using jsgme
Reinstall HSFX 4.1 --- test as before.

Deactivate mods and install 4.11 --- test.

Hope this helps.

cooooool, got it working now, thanks for the help.

One other issue I have is that the 'perfect' terrain option in-game is greyed out? My machine is pretty beefy, what gives?? I enabled it within the mods, but i read somewhere that if the game is not setup for perfect itself then I may see graphical glitches

I'm not much of an expert on conf.ini stuff, but you could try looking in that file in the root directory.

Open in text editor and look for the text:

HardwareShaders=1

Occurs in two places.
If your says HardwareShaders=0 then change it to HardwareShaders=1

There are three requirements to run Perfect Landscape mode, and all three of them can be set by running IL2Setup.exe in the main game folder (as well as editing the conf.ini by hand:

1. Run the game in OpenGL mode
2. Run the game in a 32-bit color depth
3. Turn Stencil buffer ON

Once those three things are satisfied, then the Perfect Landscape option should no longer be greyed out. If it still is, then you will have to resort to editing the conf.ini to force it on.

Good day, everyone

2. Run the game in a 32-bit color depth means that Texture Compresion: None

If the shadows are too dark, then try Polygonal Stipple ON.

8FS_Bulau, please pardon my adding a clarification of your post.

I don't mind the clarification, however, "run the game in a 32-bit colour depth" means just that, nothing to do with texture compression. If you run IL2Setup.exe, on the first tab, there is a window called "Video Mode:" You must select a resolution there which is 32 Bit, e.g. "1024x768 32 Bit", not one that is 16 Bit. This is the same thing if you do it in game, by going to "Hardware Setup...Video Modes..." select something like "1024x768x32" (not x16)

Or if you prefer to edit your conf.ini directly, it is like this:
[window]
width=1024
height=768
ColourBits=32

I understand what you posted. However, Texture Compression must be set to None for the best configuration.
