well the other day i was flying with the 83rd fighter group which uses stock 4.09 and i was wondering if its possible to use mods like PaTs Smoke and camera mod or the smoke mod where u can change the color of the wingtip smoke with stock 4.09

You cant use smoke and camera mod with an unmodded game, so essentially the answer to your question is no, however, you should really ask the group you are flying with.

If you want to use the PAT smoke mod you will have to mod your game, so you need to ask the squadron if they enable check run time or not.

If they do then the answer to your question is no, if they dont the answer is yes.

wouldnt they need sas's mod activator then download it?

Yeah, try SAS mod activator as it is really small and doesn't have any mods than the ones you want.
