Freetrack & HSFX 6DOF How to please ?
#1

I have freetrack which i use with the trackclip pro and webcam, i cant get the all the axiis to work. In freetrack if i dont select the mouse view option to use for IL2 then freetrack isnt recognised by the game it seems. I have checked that the 6DOF mod is working by pressing * key and it is . Also i checked im not in gunsight view which limits axis and im not. In game i can not lean forward/ backwards or lean sideways either. My view will not turn any further either way than say my wings so i cant see behind me. If any freetrack users could tell me, in the frretrack programs setup options; is it required that the box for mouse be checked for IL2 tracking. OR if any one else is using a track clip pro setup with webcam 'setup same as mine could me have a copy of there settings profile thet i could copy paste i would be very gratefull. (Im using HSFX 4.1 & 6 dof mod with Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS )

I use Freetrack 6 DOF and HSFX 4.1 for a while now without any problem.
I left the mouse box unchecked in the Freetrack/Output section by the way.
And did you select the 3 Points Clip option in Model section?
It sounds like if you selected the 1 Single Point option.

Hopefully it helps...

Lejo thanks for your reply, I have just cheched to make certain it was using 3 point clip setting and it was. If i try without selecting the mouse option then i dont get any response at all ingame like its not even running, and WITH mouse selected i dont get all the axis. Like i said when i turn my view to look behind me it only views so far so i end up resorting to my Hat switch to see further. I just got my trackclip which works in Arma 1/2 and WOP fine but this game is giving me hasstle I noticed when i enable the 6 dof mod in JGSME that it said it was already in HSFX and warned about enableing it but i did as i read somewhere on here to ignore it. After seeing videos of IL2 working with a trackclip it swayed me into buying one so im determined to get it working. Thanks again for your reply.

This is not exactly as you have assumed...the warning is just that 6DOF modifies files already modified by the Hsfx History Mod, however, Hsfx history mod, by itself, DOES NOT have 6DOF. In fact, if you enable 6DOF first, followed by Hsfx History mod, you will LOSE your 6DOF.

That said, even if you did it in the right order, sometimes you still lose it, and you might get it working by starting over: Disable ALL mods in JSGME, then enable Hsfx History Mod, then enable 6DOF mod, and see if it works.

8FS _Bulau thanks for your advice, i have now tried what you suggested but its still not working. I have also tried with only 6 DOF mod and 4.09m but the game stops loading at 95% & i have to alt tab to exit game. If i run IL2 and freetrack WITHOUT 6DF mod i get the same amount of Axiis as i would do if 6DOF mod WAS enabled, this doesnt make any sense to me. If i enable 6DoF mod and press * key the options for the mod appear on screen so i know its working 'but only when i have chosen to use the mouse look option in freetrack will any Axiis work. At the moment i can look around further and better if i just use my hat switch or my mouse in IL2 which is annoying as my setup works fine in other games.

I don't know anything about freetrack, but from using TrackIr with 6DoF I know that it is necessary to disable "gunsight view" (Shift+F1) to get 6DoF working. Have you tried this?

I think this is easy to resolve.
First check if you still see the three red dots when you move your head about 60 degrees to the left and to the right. You can check in the black screen in 'Cam' option. If the dots disappear when turning your head you need to put your webcam further away or more to the left or right.
If everything is okay select the 'Curves' option (see my fourth screenshot) and select tab Rotation/Yaw. In my case the black dot is at the right topcorner, the more you move the black dot to the left the smaller your view gets. Just give it a try and copy my 'Yaw' settings.

About your other probs I don't know what it could be till sofar.

Cheers, L.

 Thanks guys for your advice/help, I now have it working as it should with all 6 axiis ingame. I found the problem was i had placed a settingfs profile in my game overwriting the default one, i was experimenting to find the most logical setup and found a profile. The profile was from a simmer who doesnt use headtracking i realised today, also trackir=0 instead of trackir=1 in conf. Soon as i changed these things it worked fine so im a happy gamer today. Thanks for your input people its appreciated. one question tho: now my problem is sorted should i close/delete this topic i started for help ?? or keep it open in case anyone has the same problem ??.

There is an annoying occurrence when using the 6DOF mod. If you have disabled the gun sight view as was mentioned earlier you get all 6 degrees of freedom including the Z axis of moving your head forward and backwards. When doing this, however, if you move towards the TrackIr head (i am sure it is the same for the free track head) like when moving towards the cockpit control panel or towards the seat headrest when looking aft your view changes from the normal or even wide angle view to a zoomed in view with a 30 degree FOV. This usually occurs at the most inopportune time like when following a bandit. You can prevent this if you depress the * key on the number pad of your keyboard it brings up a menu for the 6DOF mod. If you choose to depress the 0 key on the number pad it deactivates the zoom and you can move your head smoothly in the cockpit without having your view jump to the zoomed in view 30 degree FOV.
