Manable Flak guns or Flak panzers.
#1

Hello gents.

Did anyone try to place a gun turet or something like that inside a flak panzer so we can give a propper welcome to that low life score padding vulcher next time he shows up?

I would like to see his face when he drops in on the flight line only to have a Wilberwind spawn on the tarmac and shred him to ribits.  ....You know, that WTF look. Smile

Any type of flak will do. Bofors, Vierlig, Japanese 3x25, German 37mm, Wirlberwind.

A flak panzer would be better then a fix gun position because you could spawn it on the tarmac and then drive it to the best deffending position. But honestly, anything is better then nothing.

Anyone tried this? would it even work?

Just have to say that if it is possible, this would be one of the best mods for IL2.

would love that especially if we can drive around lol

How many times we spawned bombers on the base to try and scare that persistent vulcher.
If we can make a flak panzer work all we need is enable it in the planes list and when we need it just spawn it like a plane on the tarmac and start blazing away while we drive it close to the runway. a couple of 37mm, 40mm, or quad 20mm guns would effectivly deffend the base without the need to add a lot of static AAA to the mission.

For my part, I wouldn't want manable flak positions unless they were credible and detailed models.. If we just had a low res gun with a sight attached we might as well just all play the sim in arcade mode..
There is so much to do to improve the flying aspects, that I would hate the modders to be diverted in other areas that we just don't need right now.. Wev'e got Battlefield 1942 if people want to mess about with AA guns..

I agree, while it might be nice to do that it will change the nature of the game if not play. Having said this however, I would like the ability to change skins and fire rate of ground object and add new ground object and vehicles as these would not change it from an air game but add to the variety within the game. I have not been able to understand why, with so much water around no one has ever put together a proper harbour set of objects like piers and wharfs, jetties, dockyards,
wharehouse, commerical shipping.

This is not WW2online, my friend, and i'm sure that AI has more aiming accuracy than us, the only thing i see interesting about flak modding is the ability aiming, so we would be able to change it from the FMB as a rookie to deadly ace!, like the AI gunners of aircraft!

But I don't think up to a height of 3000 to 10000 meters...
The FLAK AI has the enemy always dead centered, its only the dispersion that keeps them from hitting all the time, at least it looks like that to me.

We need lead computers when we get Flak control!

sure? put 4 or 5 B17's (ace) parked on the enemy airfield and try to go there to strafe them

i would like to say that i am a pretty gd gunner in a bomber, ppl can back me up on that.

how about this for a wacky (never gunna happen) mod, picture a b-29 (static only spawn, rig it so you cant start engines) have the top turrets with RAPID (very fast) fireing 57mm rounds, lazer them lol, i did dream of sam sights for jets only and pilotable x-4s but this is science fiction not ww2 1944.

keep the ideas and suggestions, would like to do ground objects at some point, even more modding directions

Forget the idea of controlling ground objetcs please, and try to enable the accuracy level of artillery, so it can be selectable from the FMB

I have to agree with CKY_86. But also with Trooper117, except for the Battlefield 1942 comment, because BF1942 SUCKS at realism! And that's one of the great things we DO have in IL2.

And furthermore, in Storm of War, you can actually do this stuff, and they moddeld that function into that game, because people like Bomber asked for it.

IF someone is EVENTUALLY going to figure out the right way of adding NEW vehicles and other stuff, the people that want this kind of immersion can add models, and play the game from a new, and super cool perspective.

And I always wanted to scoot around in a Wirbelwind, or those heavy British battleships, because of their tremendous AA firepower. It just rocks to shoot at an aircraft which is flying at least 300 kilometers faster than you and is attacking your 'buddies', and YOU are the one to pump it full with Minengeschoss, instead of your pilot buddies, which have much more freedom in movement than you.

In short: This mod should be on EQUAL terms with the other 2 most important mods
1. Improving the realism (since there were pilots in WW2 who once had no other choice but to jump behind a gun, instead of the stick, this mod should be included).
2. Adding NEW vehicles and other stuff(since without this possibility, we won't have a nice, REALISTIC looking Wirbelwind, with MOVING tracks!).
