Go into the i18n folder in your sound mod. Open the plane_ru.txt file.
The entries on the left are ones the game uses. Don't mess with those. The ones on the right you can change to whatever you like and it should show in game

Seems to work fine. Just backup your old planes_ru and you'll be fine.

Ah yes planes_ru is good for changing the names, dates, spaces etc.

But to change the order and a few other little details you need to go into com/maddox/il2/objects/air.ini

The Corsair MKI was never used in combat by the Royal Navy, only for training and only in the USA. However the F4u1 was used extensively by the US Navy & Marines in combat in the PTO. Pacific Fighter always mis-represented this until now.

And the Gladiators and Hurri MkI were listed amongst the axis

You could never fly the Fw190 Mistel fighter in QMB either...

Because In-Game, they were intended for use by the Finish - which in-game is obviously blue.

The changing order though, that doesnt cause any troubles?

Yes I was aware of this. And while we're there, lets not forget our Romanian friends who also used the Hurricane Mk.I & the Blenheim Mk.I.

Further to all that..., the Gladiators, Hawk75's and Blenheims were all listed as axis when Forgotten battles shipped. That changed with Pacific fighters in that the Hawk75's, (now called P.36's) and the Blenheim Mk.IV were replaced into the allied listing.

Not so far. However I only started looking at this in he last few days so I have not really changed much or tested these changes extensively.

Ideally I would like to change a fair bit, but need time to think through just what that should be. The structure of this type of thing is out of whack with reality, I think. Even although the whole theme of "Forgotten Battles" put IL2 in a class of it's own by representing many of the nations involved for the first time in a WW2 air combat sim, it is still restricted by the original IL2 programming...ie. "Blue or Red". In reality there was a lot more grey. Many nations fought on both sides, sometimes at the same time. And, the whole point of this post, many used equipment produced and procured from opponents. I don't even know if it will be possible to properly reflect this, but it's fun to try
