IL-2 community - a code of conduct needed
24.11.2007, 07:03
Trooper117 Wrote:Why does there need to be a code of conduct? Do we have to start laying that kind of thing down here? One of the reasons I come here is because of that fresh attitude and development ideas from like minded people..
It's also true that anyone who doesn't want to enter into the same spirit of things as the rest of us, will just do what they want to anyway, regardless of what they sign up to.
All mods on this site have to go through the teams inspection anyway.. It would just be a waste of time..
But that's just my insignificant opinion..lol
i 100% agree here !
first they tried to flame us ..... than scare us with EULA and morality .... than asks for code of conduction ....
Turns out we don't need them !!! It is them who depend on us not to publish "how to" cos their online playing is in great danger as they say... And still no change in attitude over at the Zoo

Thanks, I'll try to read it, but this is confusing because it's a long thread, it's not signed Bearcat and it has a lot of quotes and different size characters, lol.

Oh, I don't mind flaming at all, I just thought I'd ask because I saw that post as pointless.
A task, however? I don't really have one. I just registered here b/c I wanted to offer my 0.0001$ in conciliating this stupid brouhaha between these two newborn factions. Hey, as BC said already, this thing is here and we all - modders, onliners, whatever - will have to live with that, so why not start right now by burying the fucking war-axe?

Ok, nasty Space will appear for a second.
I was expecting a flame war over because over what I wrote and what do I get get...........nothing AGAIN
For a few year's I seem to kill threads dead or as you can see in the Thread above just get plain sweeped under the carpet.
I can see both sides of the coin, I was like JC Muppet Puppet, but was asked to try it........and fell in love with it 8)
As I pointed out there, yes it is a 'hack', but one where this game needed it - How long have we been waiting for 4.09 Patch? March, isn't it? Can't remember now.......
Yes, they're is a cheat for 'Online' Playing which I wouldn't use myself and I'm sure many folks here don't.
But the thing that really pisses me off is the fact that they think that this 'hack' & 'cheat' are one and the same - It isn't........as said in my post at UBI, I host online at HL on Weds & Suns and before this came out alway's included A.I Aircarft as 'flyables'....this is how I found out about the Sound Mod in the 1st place.
..........and as far as I can see folks, the FM & DM are one and the same
I can see they're point of veiw over there, but for christ sake, wake up and grow up

Well... I personally favor a "Statement of Intent"... it really would just state what we've all been saying here and over at UbiZoo. Simply put, we don't mod FM/DMs, nor do we encourage it.
I'd also suggest that we take the high road in possible flame wars. I like that I can come here and have a nice, civil discussion with someone who doesn't agree with my viewpoint without it quickly degenerating into a childish flame fest. It's simple... just don't jump at the bait. I personally think its a great idea that some of the Ubi crowd come over and see for themselves just what we are all about. Some will come with chips on their shoulders and wanting nothing more than a flame war to "support" their contention that "we're out to kill online IL2". Since that is the farthest thing from our collective minds... let them come. They'll not find any fertile ground here for their conspiracy theory. Some will come out of curiosity. And they should be welcomed. We're not here to "convert" anyone... we just want to do our thing. I say let them all come and see for themselves. Greet and converse with them just as you would anyone you've just met... the flamers will quickly go and the civil guests should be treated just like that... guests. My .02 cents worth anyway.

I agree that all debate on either side of the coin has to be civil.. But I totaly disagree that we have to put up a 'statement of intent'..
Who cares what people think on other sites.. and we shouldn't have to explain ourselves on our own forums.
Everyone that uses this site knows what we are about.. and it's nothing to do with cheating.
If we have to be seen to be 'justifying ourselves' something has gone terribly wrong..

Well I don't see myself as belonging to a tribe per se, and neither do I speak on behalf of a group. No, I'm here as an individual in search of opinions in resolving this community-fracturing problem. So once again: what should be done to alleviate this situation IYO gents?
PS. Could very well be there's no answer to this question, or that raising this thing here is just pure asshattery (albeit unintentional, I can assure you). But hey, if so, then I'll just get me coat and delete this account...

tribe because of your expression war axe
and what should be done hmm IMHO
online community
- cease to blame modders for cracked code and question our integrity and moral values every time word mod pop up in threads. Trust us that any changed FM wasn't and will not come from us.
modders:
- don't mess with FM and don't spread info about how to ( this is already our policy so there is no problem)
can you handle that? or we are still the best choice to hate regarding cheating
