Post with ides for Hack planes
#1

Hello I start this post to give ideas for plane hacks so the modellers can have more ideas to work, my plan is to give the name of the current plane, the possible modification and final result.
I will start with some Spanish Civil War planes so...

1-Add the Betty nose and cockpit to the He111 to have the He111B the version used in Spain by Legion Condor and in China by the nationalists

2-Add a straight wing to the PZL11 to have the Dewoitine D37

3-Add a fixed landing gear to the I153 to have the I15, the version used in Spain

4-Add a Inline engine to the U2 to have a Polikarpov Rz Natacha

5-In line engine to the Ar196 for a Heinkel 60 Seaplane

More ideas later

Ummm NO? I hope that kind of "modding" doesn't happen.

Me too Jump_Pilot but there is no way in hell this can be stopped.

Many will really want to have these planes and have no care whether they have proper flight models.

I have no issues with them.

The only thing we can hope for and work toward is to keep these mutant planes out of non mod online servers and again ask the powers that be here to somehow get these type of efforts out of the mainstream on this particular site.

RealDarko, I do not think anyone here thinks what you are trying to do is wrong or bad but some of us are onliners and have concerns over the perception set forth by your work outside the offline world.

I hope you do not get angry with us, I am not criticizing your work.

I think for most people there are quite enough planes in the game already...without looking through 'Janes' and saying...."oo look we don't have that yet"

Its just that people wanted cockpits to fly some of the more important ones which were here as AI only......

What people do in the privacy of their own computer is their business.... but don't expect many others to want them.....

These borrowed cockpits only change the view from the inside.....but the external view is still unaltered....... I don't think many want to see Frankensteins monster flying around

well IMHO if FM is untouched or they are implemented as new planes ... there is no harm.

we modded everything else why not that if there is interest ?

and beauty of mods is :you have choice.... you don't install it if you don't like it .

That what I think, no one have to use or play with those frankenplanes ( I hate this word ) but sure there are people that will like to see a I-15, a Ro-41 or a Natacha in game, imagine all the spanish players If they discover all this planes!

Like I said, some sounds, adding cockpits to AI to make them flyable and even dimming nav lights is one thing. When you start building your own aircraft we will end up with 10982345897345 different versions of what every different person think is right. I for one don't want this to turn into CFS. Some sort of standard would be nice. So far Zo, you're for anything and everything, that bothers me.

Well, as Trooper said in another thread this is a modders forum - that's what it's here for. It's not concerned about the 'purity' and 'reputation' of the online game. Sorry, but that's the case.

Personally, I'd prefer that Ranwers concentrate on just a few easy-to-achieve projects that would find wider acceptance. (The Typhoon is quite ambitious and it's not yet determined whether a good result can be achieved).
If we keep demanding this and that, Ranwers' energies will be dispersed. It's entirely his call, but I feel he (and we) would be better off perfecting just a few projects. Get the standard up - then, look to other things.

Maybe Jolly could set up a section for 'plane mesh modding as he has for map modding? So far, there's only one person here who knows how to do this, and he's still developing his techniques. There's not much evidence that we're going to be deluged with offerings, but the quality might improve more quickly if the art had its own development section - assuming the interest is there. People need to learn more about this and exchange ideas.

modding means modifications to your taste , everyone has their own desires regarding things changed in game .... as i said there is choice : don't install it and you wont have zillion planes , only those you like . you can't dictate people what they should like just cos you don't like it .... i'm sure there is bunch of people who doesn't care for modified maps and will not install them but i still make them for those who does.

and you right i am for everything cos i'm amazed with people creativity and ideas ...

One thing i will always be against : MODS THAT MESS WITH FM AND ALLOW CHEATING ONLINE!

While i'm not against introducing new types to the game in principle, I just don't see the point of introducing aircraft that have been modified to represent another type, yet have the FM of the original, and none of the FM characteristics of the new type. For me, it's the new type, with the new type's FM, or none.. and the FM had better come direct from Oleg himself to keep things balanced (and pigs will fly too).

It takes too big a leap of imagination for me to take the mutants seriously, online or off.

Again, JMHO..

There are already many mutants in the stock sim!... There are many aircraft that are used as other types with lookalike skins.. For instance the CR-42 is used as the earlier version Cr-32 by many people, The Tempest has been skinned to look like the Typhoon for various late war campaigns, the Kate is used as a 'Battle' by virtue of a fake skin... All of these types are used with their original FM!..
If someone can take those same aircraft and modify them to look more realistic to the aircraft they are trying to portray without any FM change, there is absolutely no harm done.. The same aircraft are being used as another type anyway.. Why is this such a big issue with some people???

Zo,

I should've been a bit clearer by what ai meant and asked you your opinion before making mine. For that I do apologize. What I was concerned about was someone making a new plane from parts and using it online. I could give a S*** what people do offline. lol It's just the online area I'm concerned about. Glad to hear about the No messing with FM policy though.

First of all, I'm wondering if anyone will even see it online. I think the concern however, is that before long there will be a million different frankenstein aircraft that are just pieced together with no ONE standard. Again, I don't know if it will make a difference if only the person that has the mod can see it. People just don't want things to get out of hand. For instance, taking parts and making them into a F14 lookalike, even though it has a standard IL2 FM. Things like that will kill IL2.
