[MOD] AAA Effects v1.0

AAA Effects
version 1.0

WAITING FOR APPROVAL (in order to upload the mod's file)

This mod was made for and using Il2-1946 v4.08m files (but most probably will work with any other versions too).

There are six variations of the AAA effect. All IL2-1946 AAA effects are actually based on USSR 25mm AA gun and USSR 85mm AA gun (actually, even the USSR 25mm AA gun is based on the USSR 85 mm AA one, with a small variation).

I've modified the AAA smoke clouds to:
- last 1000 longer (25mm from 5 to 5000 and 85mm from 10 to 10000)
- be 2 times bigger (25 mm from 9-18 to 18-36 and 85mm from 18-36 to 36-72)
- changed the cmoke cloud's color for the 85mm AA gun from a dark lila to black
- there are also variations with x times slower particle emitter speed (less spread of the effect's particles, in this case the smoke clouds "parts")
- there are also variations with 2 times more particles emitted per effect (for 25mm from 4 to 8 and for the 85mm from 8 to 16)

Personally, I think Effects_1000longer_2bigger_2slower_2more or Effects_1000longer_2bigger_3slower_2more are the best visually effect. There will be a pool on allaircraftarcade's site regarding this, please add your feedback in there for consideration in future versions of this mod.

Just a suggestion, perhaps you could release a pack with each option inside seperately. Then the player can install each one and decide which type suits them best.

This is a brilliant mod btw. The instant fade of AAA has been something I've wanted to see fixed for a very long time. Well done!

I think this have the potential of greatly increasing immersion!
Some questions:
Which one would be looking closer to reality? The duration, what does it mean that it would last 5000? How much in seconds?

Bee - don't worry, the package contains separate zrchives for each version, so you'd only have to unpack the desired one.

lowfighter - I honestly have no idea what those numbers are. i THINK they might be seconds, case in which my new values are surely capped by a hardcoded effect time lasting limit, but I just wanted to be sure and make them last as longly as possible Smile

Atm, in the mission I've suggested for testing, you can still see the first 85mm AA smoke clouds at the moment you're already went some part of the after-the-dive- recovery&exit path.. and that mission doesn't have too many AA guns in there..

PLEASE, DO NOT VOTE BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY TESTED AND FELT IT!!!

Mods, can you reset the pool at the moment you'll add the attachment, please?

I tested the version --Effects_1000longer_2bigger_2slower_2more-- and frankly I think: too FPS killer and too much time-remaining compared to real flak I've seen in documentary even with this version ( the more "light" you've done). its' only my taste. Just i'm wondering if in real URSS 85 was black or purple (?).If it was black I suggest you if you could make standard-default game parameters like density, time-remaining ect..but just change-mod purple color in black one.this may be very appreciate Wink

I tested ... OK, good effects ... but be careful, your smoke's settings affect smoke object destruction too ...
Modify smoke to make good AAA botches smoke for other effect in game ... What a shame ! It is the same thing with decrease navy light, modify smoke for burning vehicles ...
Test rightly your mod, it's improving something, but create visual problems elsewhere ...

I think the original purple explosion was Ok...but it needed to last longer...this would allow it to expand more anyway wouldn't it?
I think the new ones of yours last too long now....and are just round like cotton wool balls...they will affect FPS if they last too long..

they shouldn't be allowed to mess up with another mod....without it being documented as doing so
