Just A Thought...

For those that have remarked badly about Oleg/1C when it comes to their decisions NOT to make some of the changes that have been done fairly easily by the modders, keep in mind that official changes must be supported.

Before support can be given, changes must undergo a lot of testing, and when (not if) glitches are found they must be fixed. That's the kind of thing they don't have time to do.

Imagine how people would have complained if the 6DOF cloud shake bug or the airstart spawn bug had been part of an official release. Even something as mundane as the lack of lower gunner animation on the Jill when controlled by a player would have been thrown in their face.

Now, I'm not saying that any of the mod users would be included in the "...people would have complained..." comment above, but, before bashing them, keep in mind that the audience they release to includes every single user and not just those that are willing to take a risk, experiment, and accept some limitations.

A decent thought too, and one which I'd bet most everyone here would agree with.

+1

and Oleg and 1C will never get any bad statement / comment from me , cos unlike Ubi at 1C forum moderators nor Oleg didn't make one single bad remark regarding modders.

as i said before Oleg was/is/will be well respected from my side

absolutely!

Should go without saying, perhaps some just need to find justification for modification.

good points but i have something to add about this..
we do 'mods' here as part of a community not official releases by a professinal developer - we are not asking for money everything we do here is for >free< that is a big difference - if we were asking for money then it would be different about quality - so you must think about this as factors to your argument

if we did get the any kind of money for what we did here we would certainly only submit work we thought worthy of it

Did you even read the post? I'm not arguing anything. All I'm doing is stating some of the reasons that probably went into Oleg's decision NOT to do some the thing that the mods do.

My post was not directed at modders, it was directed at those who talked badly about Oleg and crew for not making many of the changes that the mods have done. If you are one of those then shame on you but there is nothing to argue.

Admittedly, Oleg should have never used the word(s) "impossible" or "not possible" b/c many people take that literally, which I don't think was his intention. He most likely meant, "...is not possible considering the amount of time we have available at this time and our other project priorities...".

I know you strive to make only worthy additions even though you are not recieving money and your Vetting poll proves it so I hope that statement does not lead anyone to think you guys would allow junk to be added for download.

mods4me, good post, any Oleg bashing should be discouraged at all times.

everyone here respects oleg I believe. Big Grin I respect him for getting on with working on BOBSOW. It shows he is a smart logical guy. We here are filling an urgent need that oleg shouldn't be bothered with which is to add more features to a excellent game he soon won't support whatsoever.

Good points mods4, as long as you are talking about the PAID addons. For the 'free' updates however, they could have gotten around that by having 'open beta' versions.
