Armoured headrests - I hate 'em!

DioMac Wrote:Yeah fair enough mate......But where is your proof that "The armor does nothing and is there to make the plane look pretty"?

1) Take a ride in Ju-88 on a dogfight server.
2) Do a quickie offline with arcade on. Ju-88 does not have armor of any kind. Armour and radio/navigation equipment are visual only.

Not that I'm advocating the removal of armoured headrests, in fact I'm strictly against it.

Do you have a photo of this modification in LW service?

Even if there is a photo, was it mainstream? If not, then it's something personal that again, doesn't represent that particular model the way it should be. So in the end it just gives that one person an unfair advantage, no matter how small it may be. I hate those armored headrests too btw, but you just deal with it.

Only if only one person downloads it. If only one person downloaded and used the ace maker gunsights, wouldn't that give them an unfair advantage? (I'm all for the gunsights BTW, so please don't go there) I'm not asking for someone to mod it and give it to me especially, it should behere on the forums to download for all to enjoy it IF THEY WANT IT.
Will try and hunt for some evidence as well. Wait out.

Wait a minute.. Doesn't someone who has trackir have an unfair advantage over another player who doesn't??
I vote we should ban any player who is using such an obvious cheat!

for these reasons the headrest should stay. even field for everyone. perhaps the view behind was limited eh?

I don't get what the big deal is over this. I actually enjoy the hypocrasy of some of the posts in this thread...However, that said, I'm not standing in defence of either side of this argument, but I would like to point out:

Pilots made modifcations all the time to their personal aircraft so asking your ground crew (in this case, the mod-makers) to give you a G-2 without the armoured headrest isn't a big deal. It doesn't take anything more away from the game and Oleg/IC's intentions than moding a Catalina using a B-25 cockpit does.

We have the B-29 with an He 111 cockpit simply to fill a 'need'/gap in this game people asked for. Well Brophmeister has a need to take out the armour plate in his G-2/88 and has asked for a specific mod to be done. Where is the difference?

That said, just because you ask for something, doesn't mean you will get it - even if it is Christmas

They are permanent changes, not consistant with the modelling of the aircraft by 1C. Stock flyable aircraft need to remain generally representative to their type as modelled - without the ability to remove the DM of that armour in the aircraft programming (a no-no in itself) it's an unfair advantage that is not true to the original model. It's armoured wonderwoman view from the rear.

I'm not a 'blue' player at all.. but if a mod like this would be available, then it would only be permanent for the user who decided to install it.. if you don't like it, don't use it..surely!
As to the FM.. there would be no change, if anything, it's the blue pilot who won't benefit, as the loss of a few pounds in weight would not be modelled in his aircraft!..
Would I be worried if a few German pilots had a little better visibility to the rear whilst flying an online campaign.. No, not in the least!
We really have to move away from this 'cry wolf' attitude and 'cheat' when people make a historical request for a mod. Modding the game to historical levels is what this site is about isn't it??

I agree and yes the moders are our ground crew(no ofence caz you can use it too) so what if we have little better visibilyty if you are a good pilot that woldn't be a problem or will be?

Once again, there is little to no damage modelling for the headrests as there is. And once again, how many people have been headshotted from behind by a 303 round going straight through the massively chunky armoured headrest?

Even if there was damage modelling for the headrest I am not asking you to modify that (although I can understand your dilemma).

Said with no evident irony or hyupocrasy

I fail to see how this is anymore of an advantage than the ace-maker gunsights that was released for late-war Allied aircraft. They weren't modelly in the aircraft released by IC but red pilots still get them... And before anyone says it was something pilots had access to during the war, the removal of armour plating in the G-2 was also something that pilots had access to during the war. If it is good enough to model things "not consistent with the modelling of" Blue aircraft, then it should be the same for red aircraft also.

Quote:It's armoured wonderwoman view from the rear.

  Spoken like a true red pilot.

The armour in this game is notoriously bad, if not to say biased. Removing the head plate doesn't remove the seat armour so the only difference it would make is in a high 6 shot - something very few pilots can pull off with any great accuracy and occurence anyway and given the lack of armour protection the plate provides in the first place...what difference does it make??

The armour plating stinks - removing only means you are now able to see who or what PK's you.
