Please i need as much information / pictures ect on the Askania EZ 42/1-A1 computing gunsight - i have allready a gyro computing gunsight ready for the Dora fw190 D9 (44) but i need to know exactly what it looked like looking through it aswell - thx - also need proof of exactly whic planes/models used this gunsight /which planes were *factory* fitted with this gunsight

we must have evidence of which types used this sight

Mr Jolly, the big pb with the latewar german planes is that they were equipped with a lot of things, but all those conversions were mostly done in the field and not in the factories, so except some pictures and some repports, you won't find anything as factoryfresh documents.
In this case, if you want to continue on it, you have to consider the historical repports and not waiting for a document saying for ex that FW put those gunsights on the D9 from Serie n

The real problem is finding a photo with the actual illuminated reticle.. I'm wondering if the one in the above photos is functioning properly. If this is the case, there should be a way to find one with the reticle projected on the glass...
Concerning the issue of which aircraft should be fitted with it, I guess we should start with the ones that already have the 3-d model of it installed. These are either very late war or 'fictional' 1946 machines that would have been fitted with such a sight anyway: Ta-183, Ta-152 C, Me-262 HG, He-162 C.
As far as the other luftwaffe machines, I think it should be restricted to Fw-190 D-9 , Fw-190 A-8/9
, Fw-TA-152 H and maybe Bf-109 K-4 and He-162 although I have no proof that these actually used the Askania.

Askania EZ42 gyroscopic gunsight

Ta-183, Ta-152C, and potentially some other Luft'46 planes modelled in our sim were projected to use the EZ42 gyro sight, similar to the K-14 peace-maker used in late-war American planes.
However no detailed information about the features of the EZ42 exist, and we were forced to install regular sights on these planes. Even in the cockpits with 3D models visually based on the EZ42 design, they function as simple reflector sights.

I'd love to do some reticle textures for this one.
I doubt that we fill find any resources on how the actual reticle looked like when lit.
In the worst case we will have to take an intelligent guess.

As for wich planes would have used it - without a doubt the jets.
I don't think there were any installed in any Antons versions other then for testing.
So lets stick to jets and add both Ta 152s, both Do 335s and maybe the K4 C3 and the late Dora.

im a little unsure wether we should release this one - i really want some evidence that this sight was used more than not in late german fighters + which types were they fitted to ?

MrJolly , my advice is to release it initially for the aircraft that already have the 3d model of the sight.

It seems that historically it was mostly used on FW-190s firstly with Fw-190 A-8s and then with the Me-262. It seems the Do-335 was also proposed to use it. I'm looking for some reliable sourcess concerning this.

Another point that has to be made, is that it was used mostly experimentally, and was never in widespread use. So it's in no way comparable to the wide use of the feranti sight by the Spitfires/P-51s/P-47s . Thus it all comes down to whether the individual virtual pilot wants to download it.

Is the conclusion you've reached about the appearance of the reticle historical or is it just a speculation?

Mr.Jolly,can you add the new german gunsight to the FW-190 A-8,9+FW-190 D-9 /early 'n late/?
Cos in the servers and online wars,we can find very rare a Ta-152 /let's not mention about the Ta-183 :lol: .../We hardly get even a Me-262 there.So if you add it to the Ta-152 or Ta-183...It will be useless.Noone will be able to use it somewhere /only on the arcade servers,'n such like the AAA server/.
Pls fit the Antons from 8 to 9;Dora 9 Early and Late;Me-109 K-4 early and late /you may add it if you want to G-14 too..This is my personal christmas wish / with the new gyro.So we can use it.

It looks perfecly ingame,but can you get it a little bit higher?
It'll be very hard to lead fire on target with this "obstacle" infront of the gyro.
