Map Modifying Discussion - History (Read Only)

I must have expressed myself wrong. I meant to say that it will not prevent a map from being loaded in FMB, which is the biggest recurring problem we have right now.

JV69_BADA Wrote:don't bother, i started yesterday on the murmansk map, it's easier to start a new hole map from scratch and srtm files than spending time on creating a whole new elevation for the map manually :x

is 150km west and east of tobruk enough? how much in the south do you want?

Yes, I too was starting from SRTM data and from the Crimea map. The interesting part is at least from El Agheila to Sollum, so 150 km West and East from Tobruk should suffice Smile.

The inland part is enough 150-180 km, I would leave some sea in the North for ship action.

So it's useless that I start my own project, but I am willing to collaborate to yours if you want.
I have some material about this theatre (including a very nice aerial photo of Tobruk)

Cheers

Where are the files for Manchuria, Burma, Norway and the rest of the maps we got with 1946?

Please can you explain me how to create a new map_c.tga?
The format of this map is very strange, it seems to be the original map cut in pieces and reassembled...
Thanks
Maraz

Maraz PM me your email.

to all new modders ..... please let me know your prefixes !

For Skunkmeister

Please, could I ask the same as Marasz for creating mac_c.tga ?
Could you send me by mail ? I'm trying to create my own map wich would cover Corsica and south east coast of France. Not posting about because I'm not an expert as you
It would be very helpfull for me.

Leigh, almost all info about how to do things is contained in this thread. But it's quite true that since this info is scattered over many pages and was posted from men with scattered brains it's pretty hard to piece the things together for someone who beginns. The thing is still in development, and the chaos is inherent. I'll try helping so I propose you tell what did you understand up to now. Then I (and the others) can help answering specific questions. Again, sorry for the luck of systematic info here, for me it's also hard writing in English, otherwise I'd have already tried writing some intro...
Keywords for discussion load.ini, map_c, map_h, map_T, actors.static...

is your map_h file in 8bit grayscale? For Hawaii it should come out as 1.22Mb in size.

i dunno if its in 8 bit but i is 1.22mb but hmmm still the same

Did you change anything else?

Hawaii elevation map should be 1600x800, grayscale, and 1.22Mb.

What program did you save it with? Did you compress it? I know that for GIMP when you save a tga it asks you if you want to compress it, you have to untick that option.
